UNIQLO: Lifewear

UNIQLO: Lifewear

I was invited at the recent Uniqlo LifeWear Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Show held at Venice Piazza Mc Kinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City. I was seated at the second row just at the back of Uniqlo's managing director Mr. Katsumi Kubota and Uniqlo's endorser Miss Iza Calzado.

Looking at all the fashionable people on stage that night, I can't help but admire the models in their summer clothing labelled as Uniqlo's lifewear! Lifewear line of clothing looks so comfortable and so right! The models wore lifewear as if the clothing they have on is their second skin. It is like an old favorite from the moment you discovered them. This is what clothing is meant to be. This Japanese company never fails to ensure to provide the best casual clothes for all kinds of people. After all Uniqlo is made for all.

Oh, la la! I was thrilled to learn last Thursday night that Uniqlo is set to open 10 more stores in the Philippines this year and will carry Filipino designs here and abroad.

Katsumi Kubota, Uniqlo managing director, said that they would be opening
four stores in the first half, including one in (BGC) Bonifacio Global City and its first provincial store in SM Pampanga and possibly Cebu.

Uniqlo is set on expanding and opening ten more new stores in different locations all over the Philippines.  Uniqlo is on its track to meet their target of 50 stores by the end of 2015.

Uniqlo will soon be carrying clothing lines made by local designers.

Katsumi Kubota said Uniqlo stores in SM Mall of Asia and SM North Edsa sold more than 300,000 pieces of garments during Christmas, the fastest growth in Asia and close to US sales.

The SM North Edsa branch is expected to match the first store in SM Mall of Asia, where the retailer sold 300 million pieces of garments in more than three months.

The Japanese retailer has invested more than $1 million for its second branch.

Kubota said the company sells up to 500 styles, and its best sellers are jeans, T-shirts and shorts.

Uniqlo has 1,100 stores in 13 markets, including Japan, China, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, U.K., and US. It posted 928 billion yen in global sales for fiscal year ending August 31, 2012.

UNIQLO NORTH EDSA: Opens November 16, 2012
It's all system go for UNIQLO North Edsa! Woooot! UNIQLO is Japan’s leading global fashion brand. It is set to open its second store on November 16, 2012, Friday at the 2nd floor of SM City North EDSA The Block

UNIQLO North Edsa will be Uniqlo's second store in the Philippines. A fitting follow-up to the very successful opening of UNIQLO’s first store in the Philippines in June this year at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The choice of SM City North EDSA in Quezon City was made to serve primarily Quezon City residents and other key areas in this part of northern Metro Manila. Yes! This is good news for Northern residents like me and you!
Quezon City is an acknowledged business, entertainment and lifestyle hub, and features a large concentration of residential areas that makes it an ideal location for UNIQLO’s new store. SM City North EDSA, on the other hand, is a top-of-mind choice for shopping and leisure activities in northern Metro Manila.
Oh la la! I am so lucky to be invited to a shopping spree at Uniqlo North Edsa two days before its grand opening on the 16th. I was able to buy two (2) pants and two (2) shirts. #Napagastos ng wala sa oras. Lol. Well, Christmas is around the corner so splurging once in a while especially if it is a sale is just okay, don't you think so?

I saw a couple of bloggers, members of the press, models, singers, actors, actresses enjoying shopping at Uniqlo last night.
We had fun shopping last night! Thank you Uniqlo, sa uulitin! Pants can be bought as low as Php 590 to Php 1990. Shirts as low as Php 190, Php 290 and Php 590.

With the upcoming opening of its 2nd store in the country, UNIQLO is right on track in its target of opening more stores in the Philippines that will bring UNIQLO’s excellent products to more people in other areas.
The Philippines is the 12th branch outside of Japan where UNIQLO has presence, after opening stores in the US, UK, France, Russia, China, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan. UNIQLO also operates stores in other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

UNIQLO is seen as an innovator in the global apparel industry because of its wide array of product lines that are highly functional and of outstanding quality at an affordable price.

UNIQLO promotes its “MADE FOR ALL” philosophy, whose underlying objective is to provide casual clothing that is made for all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or any other ways that define an individual.

The salesman was encouraging me to buy a Ghost in the Shell Black shirt because he claimed to have sold one to Korina Sanchez.

The UNIQLO store at the 2nd floor of the SM City North EDSA The Block will be open beginning November 16, 2012,  from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Are you all gear up shopping at Uniqlo North Edsa? Don't be left behind. Be there at 10:00 a.m. sharp on November 16 2012, Friday para di ka maubusan!
I just can't get enough of Uniqlo's Special Sale! I'll be back for more at UNIQLO SM City North EDSA Store's grand opening on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the 2nd floor, The Block, SM City North Edsa, Quezon City, Philippines! See you there!

UNIQLO AND NOVAK DJOKOVIC:Launches Project "Clothes for Smiles"

Guys and gals a piece of good news from your favorite clothing brand UNIQLO!

UNIQLO announces last October 16, 2012, the launch of “Clothes for Smiles,” a program developed in collaboration with professional tennis player and UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador Novak Djokovic.

Through this initiative, the company will establish a U.S. $10 million* fund and use it to bring smiles to kids all over the world, nurturing their dreams and giving them the tools to build a better and brighter future. The fund will be established from the sale of HEATTECH and Ultra Light Down items during the 2012 fall/winter season.

“Clothes for Smiles” will be comprised of two programs, at U.S. $5 million* each:
  •  One program will accept ideas from around the world to give children a better tomorrow
  •  The second will be an initiative to provide support to programs aimed at improving children’s education, through a global alliance agreement signed between UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) and Fast Retailing.
Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President & CEO of leading global Japanese retailer Fast Retailing, said, “I am very pleased to launch today ‘Clothes for Smiles,’ the first fund to be established by UNIQLO, in partnership with Novak Djokovic. This is an innovative CSR initiative in terms of its scale, type of support provided, and its style of accepting ideas for the fund worldwide. ‘Clothes for Smiles’ will serve as one of UNIQLO’s major CSR activities alongside ongoing initiatives such as the All-Product Recycling Program and the social business.”
Commenting on the launch of “Clothes for Smiles,” UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador Novak Djokovic said, “I feel honored, and indeed very excited, to have collaborated with UNIQLO in developing ‘Clothes for Smiles,’ a totally new program that aims at giving children of all ages a chance for a better future. I hope many people from all around the world will help to support this initiative and in doing so will bring smiles to children everywhere.”

Details of “Clothes for Smiles”

“Clothes for Smiles” will be comprised of two programs, at U.S. $5 million* each. One program will accept ideas from around the world to give children a better tomorrow, and implementing them. The second program is intended to provide support to programs aimed at improving children’s education, through a global alliance agreement signed between UNICEF and Fast Retailing. The program will initially provide support to Bangladesh, China, Philippines and Serbia, with more countries to follow.

*Dollar amount of the fund may vary according to the exchange rate.

How to be Involved in “Clothes for Smiles”

UNIQLO welcomes ideas for how to give kids a better tomorrow from people everywhere. The company would like to receive ideas for how to use the fund and asks the public to do so via a dedicated website www.uniqlo.com/smiles. Customers can support “Clothes for Smiles” just by purchasing one or more HEATTECH and Ultra Light Down items sold during the 2012 fall/winter season.

How to Share Ideas for the Fund/Idea Selection Process

Through our project website, www.uniqlo.com/smiles, UNIQLO welcomes ideas from around the world to give kids a brighter future. The website will be available in 9 languages: Japanese, English, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Korean, Thai, French, Russian and Serbian, and it will accept entries for ideas in a total of 13 languages (Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, in addition to the above 9 languages). Japanese and English websites will be available initially, with other languages to follow.

The final selection will be made by a panel of judges that include, Nobel Peace Prize recipient Muhammad Yunus, architect Tadao Ando, Novak Djokovic and Fast Retailing Chairman, President & CEO Tadashi Yanai. The ideas selected by the panel are scheduled to be implemented from around March 2013.

Since the appointment of Novak Djokovic as UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador, announced in Paris on May 23, 2012, both parties have been discussing various measures to realize their common, mutual desire to improve people’s lives and contribute to society.
