TITO SOTTO: Opppsss He Did It Again!

TITO SOTTO: Opppsss He Did It Again!

Comedian and now Senator-elect Vicente"Tito" Sotto's Privilege Speech today, September 5, 2012 side by side with Robert F. Kennedy’s speech during Day of Affirmation, June 6 1966.

Robert F. Kennedy:

Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped.

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Vicente Sotto III:

Sought for an answer for the alleged Tagalized version of the former US Senator's speech, Sen. Tito Sotto said he was not aware that the passages came from a Kennedy speech. He said a friend texted it to him then he had it translated in Tagalog.

The senator only laughed off the allegation that he copied from a Kennedy original. "Marunong na palang managalog si Kennedy ha," he said.

Pwede mo naman pong i quote, basta may attribution.

Go Pinoy!

Tagalog translation of ripples on google: galaw, bulwak, kulo.

Ripple of hope should not be translated verbatimly. Ripple of hope simply means "Nagbibigay ng kaunting pag-asa" and not "Kaunting galaw". You should tell that to your translator po.

Geez, I can't help reacting. Opps, may I go out now Siree.

Bawal akong ma stress.

This year's educational component and the screening of select Filipino movies will also explore the links between the European and Filipino cinema which are deeper than many people may think. Educational round tables will tackle different aspects of cinematic art while information will be made available on Filipino filmmakers may be able to access European funds.

For the first time, organisers of Cine Europa are tapping the resources of the Independent Film Cooperative (IFC) to enhance further the educational component of the festival with round table discussions with prominent film personalities and experts exploring the links between European and Filipino films while also offering screenings of selected Filipino movies with European connections.
