PHILTRANCO: Celebrating 100 Years Of Service To The Filipino People

PHILTRANCO: Celebrating 100 Years Of Service To The Filipino People

I was amazed by the fact that my favorite Philippine transport company Philtranco is celebrating its centennial year.

Believe it or not, at 100 years, it is the 3rd oldest bus company in the world!

I was born in Bicol. And Philtranco is part of my growing up years simply because it is the transportation of choice of my family and of many other Bicolano families to and from Metro Manila.

Did you know that my family and I used to go to Manila either by:
  • airplane
  • with our own car
  • train
  • via Philtranco.
My dad refuses to go to Manila via bus unless it is Philtranco. Are you wondering why? Well, it is simply because Philtranco is very reliable, fast and safe plus it has its own toilet. Years ago toilet stops on the way to Manila were dangerous because of hold-ups and sometimes passengers, after alighting to eat or to go to the restroom at stops during the trip, get dizzy and mistakenly hop on a different bus.

Congratulations to the 100 years of fast, safe and reliable transport of Filipino passenger, Philtranco! Continue the biyaheng masaya for another 100 years! Mabuhay!

MAYON VOLCANO: ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE (ATV) RIDE

MAYON VOLCANO: ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE (ATV) RIDE

Photo courtesy of Cannon Leongson Capiral
What better way is there to capture your memories of the beautiful perfect cone of Mayon Volcano than to have your pictures taken with the majestic Mayon as the backdrop.

Better still, you can explore the scenic places at the foot of Mount Mayon aboard the All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) that are available for rent from different ATV operators at Barangay Pawa in Legazpi City or at Cagsawa Ruins at Barangay Busay in Daraga, Albay.

Oh, these bunch of young at heart must be having the time of their lives while cruising through rough terrains on board the ATVs at the foot of Mount Mayon. You could almost feel their adrenaline rush as they skillfully maneuver the ATVs through narrow streams along the ATV trail.

For you to have a clearer picture of the various ATV trails available, you can take a look at the map below.
NOTE: We are not in any way connected with the ATV Operators
On the map, you'll see the starting point of the ATV trails in Barangay Pawa, Legazpi City.

Here is how to go to Barangay Pawa:

You can take a tricycle or cab or jeepney.

If you ride the Legazpi-Daraga jeepney, take Loop 1 or Loop 2 jeepney route, get off at Sagrada Familia Chapel at Barangay Bogtong and walk along the street leading to Barangay Pawa.

The other starting point of the ATV trails is in Cagsawa Ruins site at Barangay Busay in Daraga, Albay where you can hit two birds with one stone by visiting the Cagsawa Ruins and taking the ATV ride through various trails at the foot of Mayon Volcano.

PARTIALLY DISABLED PERSON: Reintegration to Society

PARTIALLY DISABLED PERSON: Reintegration to Society

A pleasant day to you! Rejoice you and your family is in perfect health. Not everyone is as lucky as you are.

I wonder if there is a program under Pnoy's administration for partially disabled person's reintegration to society?

Not a lot of people could feel and understand partially disabled person's desire to once again feel how it is to be a productive member of the society.

Evil hearted people abound making it hard(er) to be a member of the group once again. That's why most of the partially disabled person hope and pray for a more forgiving and understanding heart of every member of the society.

Maybe you could not help them with their medical expenses nor pay for their expensive maintenance medicines and check up.

That means that the least that you could do is to be gentle with them. Don't rub it off to their faces that they are limited in their ways. Be kind. Do not be cold hearted. Try to be on their shoes. Would you be as strong? These people had been through a lot so please don't add up to their pain. If it is still difficult for you to understand them, just let go. Go on with your life, don't make any foolish acts against them. After all. they're still human. And as human being you ought to act as one.

Giordano Philippines invites everyone to join World Without Strangers campaign

MANILA, MAY 26, 2014 – A world without strangers is an ideal world where people are not divided by race, class, religion or culture. It is a world where everyone welcomes each other as if they are friends or family. This is what Giordano Philippines stands for, and it longs to do so by developing apparel for everyone regardless of ethnicity, nationality or culture.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary in the country, Giordano Philippines invites everyone to join them in this quest for a World Without Strangers (WWS), beginning with the WWS photo booth which will run in selected malls all over the country from May 16 to June 1, 2014.

Catch the WWS photo booth at Trinoma (May 23), SM Megamall (May 24), Alabang Town Center (May 25), Ayala Cebu (May 30) and SM Davao (June 1). The first leg of the campaign took place at the SM Mall of Asia (May 16), Glorietta (May 17) and SM Pampanga (May 18).

The photo booth will be situated in the mall for a whole day. Those who want to participate in the campaign need to sign a form, giving their consent for Giordano Philippines to use to use their photos on social media and other Giordano marketing collaterals. And participants will get to bring home their own copy of the photo.
“The Giordano brand and apparel have always appealed to anyone – from those who shop in Dubai’s glitzy malls to the laidback college kids in Sydney, Australia. Our timeless style and quality materials bring together people of different cultures and backgrounds,” said Beatrice Lim, Giordano Philippines’ VP for Marketing.

“Here in the Philippines people still come from different divides, and through this campaign we hope to break that. We want to show everyone that we can live in a world without strangers,” she said.

VIDEO: Chito Miranda and Neri Naig

VIDEO: Chito Miranda and Neri Naig

Trending now is Chito Miranda and Neri Naig's video.

Parokya ni Edgar's front man Chito Miranda won a lot of netizen's heart when he proposed to his long time girlfriend Neri Naig at a private resort.

Chito told Neri that a friend asked him to shoot a music video.  In the middle of the fake music video shoot, which supposedly starred Naig,  these words flashed on the screen: "Ako na ang pinakamaswerteng lalaki sa buong Cavite, a wide-eyed Neri Naig, visibly surprised look around then Miranda came out and fell to his knees, kissing Neri's hand while crying.  He then asked the actress to marry him.

The 38-year-old musician had the proposal documented and posted the video on his YouTube account late Wednesday.

Miranda and Naig became controversial last year after sex videos of them surfaced online. During a press conference last year, Chito told members of the media of his plans to marry Neri Naig.

"Ako ever since planado ko na 'yon talaga," Miranda said. "Siyempre when you are in a relationship, you always want to think na this would be it. So yeah, there's a plan.

I am so happy for the both of you. Hindi nila kayo natinag!

Wondering what  Easter treats you could give your kiddos on Easter Sunday?

Health benefits abound if you get good, healthy sleep

Health benefits abound if you get good, healthy sleep

Can't sleep well at night? Are you an insomniac? Ever wondered how to get the best sleep you can ever have? To know more about it, you may probably have to go to a sleep conference or any fora and shell out money to get much-needed information.

Luckily, Uratex, the Philippines’ largest manufacturer of commercial and automotive polyurethane foam and mattress products, knows how valuable information is when it comes to knowing how to get healthful sleep and reap its benefits—and they’ll even bring the information directly to the people.

Just recently, Uratex kicked-off its “Mobile Sleep Solutions” at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City that aims to educate Filipinos in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on how to get the best of sleep health.

On board a customized, air-conditioned van transformed to mimic a cozy bedroom environment, guests learned from Uratex sleep experts the 10 commandments of sleep hygiene for adults, the benefits of good sleep and the many exciting Uratex products that best suit the needs of customers when it comes to their sleeping needs. Inside the van guests also got to sample the cozy and comfortable feel of the Uratex Airlite Mattress that offers superior sleep benefits.

Incidentally, the launch of the Uratex Sleep Solutions Caravan coincided with the celebration of World Sleep Day, which aims to promote sleep health worldwide. The commemoration of this significant event also explains why the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine, a group that promotes the importance of sleep health and an affiliate of the Philippine Medical Association, conducted a mini conference, which Uratex also supported as part of its better sleep advocacy.

It was a really informative day for many guests and onlookers who trooped to the “Mobile Sleep Solutions Van.” They all marveled at the unique vehicle that was adorned with balloons and made alive by the presence of 15 friendly personnel from Uratex, led by Consumer Marketing Manager Marvey Alcantara.

“Our guests were so happy about this mobile sleep solutions van. We got many inquiries from people who asked us on the good sleeping habits and the different Uratex products which, according to them, they only see in stores and malls. Now the products are here and they can try these items. They are very interested about the foam, mattress, fold-a-mattress, pillows, portable mats, and our new product line,” Alcantara said.

Inside, guests also joined the on-going #CelebrateSleepWithUratex photo contest where they can win wonderful prizes. They only needed to visit the “Mobile Sleep Solutions” with a maximum of five people and take photos on the Uratex Airlite Mattress. Participants should then post their picture on Facebook and tag all their friends included in the photo with the hashtag #CelebrateSleepWithUratex, and put the link of the photo in Facebook to win via rafflecopter.

Adjacent also to the Mobile Sleep Solutions van is a game booth where guests were invited to participate in exciting games and entertainment. Lucky guests truly enjoyed the fun and went home smiling while toting several great prizes from Uratex.

The Uratex “Mobile Sleep Solutions” is just the start of many wonderful days for some 3,000 people who dropped by the promo vehicle. For the next three months, the “Mobile Sleep Solutions” will motor to different places in the metropolis. Afterwards, it will head to the provinces, particularly in Laguna, Batangas, Pampanga, Bulacan, among others.
