TUTUBAN CENTER NIGHT MARKET: Exciting Shopping Nights

TUTUBAN CENTER NIGHT MARKET: Exciting Shopping Nights
It's Christmas time and everyone are excited to shop for the coming holiday season. My friend Grace is such a sucker for bargain goods. I bet like my friend, you also wishes that the shopping malls has extended shopping hours right? Worry not because in Divisoria, shopping nights await you at Tutuban Center night market.

Yes, when the mall closes but the shopping urge is still unsatisfied, you and your friends can now troop to the Tutuban Center Night Market. It is the Philippines’ answer to the world-renowned night markets of Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. I've been to different countries and nothing beats the unique "tawaran" system in Tutuban. This unique bargain shopping destination allows you to experience open-air shopping at its best, with the widest array of goods and supplies at the most reasonable prices.

The Tutuban Center Night Market is a clean, organized and secured market area that brings together a collection of stalls that sells personal items, kitchen wares, garden accessories, handicrafts, sports gear and novelty knick-knacks—and just about anything you can think of.

It is the exciting place where, at the close of regular mall hours, street vendors take over the vehicular road network of the main cluster of the Tutuban complex to set up their stores and sell their goodies. From the early evening to midnight, the perimeter area of Tutuban Center metamorphoses into a dynamic market, with pockets of brightly-lit stalls with equally bright-eyed shoppers angling for the most awesome bargains.

Haggling and negotiating over prices is definitely the standard practice, and goods all come at cheaper and more affordable costs. And now that Christmas is around the corner, you can browse more than a thousand imaginative gift ideas. This is the market where “there’s something for everyone” rings true and real.

Gift suggestions are yours for the giving: for your office secret Santa to your special someone; for the sister who is into arts and the niece into crafts; for the brother who is a gadget geek and the nephew who’s a technophile; for the boss who is a cook and his wife’s who’s a foodie; for your Mom who’s a home buff and Dad who’s a garden aficionado.

While Christmas carols are on full blast, enjoy dining al fresco at the Food Street. Freshly cooked seafood and hot-off-the-grill offerings are yours for the partaking to drive away your hunger pangs. Hong Kong-style or homemade noodles will surely chase the cold Christmas chill away while street staples such as hotdogs, kikiam and fish balls are sure to satisfy your cravings.

It is now more exciting and more leisurely to stroll around the Tutuban Center Night Market, but the experience is still the same for shoppers who have loved the nightly bazaar for, such as the great bargains, amazing discounts, joyous atmosphere, and food and fun for the entire family and barkada.

With this kind of shopping experience, going to Tutuban Center Night Market is surely the way to go, where shopping is always the best—any time, any day.

SINGAPORE FOOD REPUBLIC: Introduces New Dishes

SINGAPORE FOOD REPUBLIC: Introduces New Dishes
I was invited to a dinner by HK Tan of the famous Nasi Lemak and Singapore Food Republic. It happened on a Friday, sadly, I had to commute because I am not allowed to bring a plus one. I was so famished and tired when I finally reached Singapore Food Republic in BGC. Enduring a three hour commute from our house is worth it, after I got to taste the Singapore Food Republic's version of Thai Mango Salad!  It was so delicious! I love this spicy dish! Gustong gusto ko ang kagat sa dila. Yum yum!
Sizzling Japanese Tofu with Seafood. I love any dish with Tofu.
Aromatic Lemon Grass Seafood stick. So yummy dish! I like this!
Kong Pao chicken with cashew.
Braised Pork Knuckle in Superior Soy. According to HK Tan, this is based on Chairman Mao's Favorite recipe.
 Superior Pot with beefsteak.
Spicy Garlic fish fillet with cotton tofu.

I tried some of the dishes above and my favorite is the Thai Mango Salad. If you want something spicy then go to Singapore Food Republic by Nasi Lemak Fort Bonifacio. Hey, don't get me wrong, if you don't like spicy food, they also have other food offering like this yummy Seafood Fruit Salad Croquette. I love this! You can have this dish together with  your choice of one drink and a dessert for only Php 165/ net from 2 pm onwards. Isn't that a steal?

Here is a sample combination, composed of tea tarek, siomai and siopao all for Php 165.00

I was able to try the tea tarek, we were entertained on how they make this cool drink. Order one and see a performance like no other!
Singapore Food Republic also has a tasty dessert offerings like this muffin below. The good news is that this yummy muffin is included at their 2 pm until they close promo.

I think it is important to note that all of their ingredients are imported from Singapore so you'll know/taste that it's authentic. It was nice meeting you Chef Joanne! Thank you so much for the warm reception H.K. Tan, Kim and Ms. Cora!

VIDEO: Regine Velasquez Loses Voice at her Silver Concert

VIDEO: Regine Velasquez Loses Voice at her Silver Concert

Despite suffering from a viral infection, Asia's Songbird, Regine Velasquez pushes through with her  #Silverconcert at the Mall of Asia Arena last Friday, November 16, 2012, believing in the adage that the show must go on, straining her vocal chords despite her illness. Thus, she loses her voice and had to cut short the concert.

Regine Velasquez 25th Anniversary Concert at SM MOA Arena November 16, 2012

I feel sorry for Regine. I hope she recovers soon. Get well soon Regine!

It is a good thing that Regine Velasquez fans are so understanding. Regine was also helped out by Vice Ganda and John "Sweet" Lapus. Vice Ganda had an an impromptu act to help out Regine.  A TRUE REGINIAN! Please note that this comedy skit was never part of her Repertoire. Thanks Vice Ganda for helping the Asia's songbird and for those kind words.

Free concert repeat

Not one to shortchange her audience, Regine promised to all “Silver” concert ticketholders that she will mount a free concert for all of them at the same venue. Cool! Regine is really nice.

Regine Velasquez's Silver Concert Take 2: Tentative date is on December 8. @cacaimitra will announce the decision on Monday. This is FREE for all Silver Concert Ticket Holders.
Regine Velasquez marked her 25th year in show business via the aptly titled concert "Silver" at the SM MOA Arena yesterday night (November 16) but it rained on her parade.

DIMSUM BREAK: The Home of Good Chinese Food Now Open at THE ANNEX of SM City North Edsa

DIMSUM BREAK: The Home of Good Chinese Food Now Open at THE ANNEX of SM City North Edsa

To all siomai-eating pinoys: You thought you already know your dimsum?  For all you know, what you have tried might have been nothing but dimsum with extenders and with only soy sauce and kalamansi dip to make it flavorful. It's a good thing that the Dimsum people who inculcate the Dimsum eating habit to almost every Cebuano conquers Metro Manila. Dimsum Break is now open at the third floor of SM City North Edsa The Annex. at unbelievably affordable prices! I tell you, you'll not only see but taste the big difference! In the picture above you can see the following:
  • Empress roll - the one with lettuce wrap, this is my favorite! I so love how the taste slide to my tongue in every bite! Two thumbs up for this! Very healthy! Makulay ang buhay kapag kumain ng gulay!
  • Shaomai - pork siomai so delicious!
  • Bacon Shaomai- the sinful bacon wrapped siomai, yum yum!
  • Quail's egg siomai- siomai topped with quail egg
  • Mushroom siomai - siomai with mushroom ano beh! Lol!
The above picture is only a steamer basket sampler. You can purchase them cafeteria style. Just point to what siomai you like to order and the friendly and attentive staff will serve them to you!
Crab Princers on stick are so meaty! Lasang lasa ang crab! I love it! On the side is the yummy spring roll.  The Spring rolls (P65) are cooked to a nice crisp, and the sweet and sour sauce it was drowned in was the perfect sauce for it.
Don't forget to order the foundation of Dimsum Break, their core product -the Steamed Fried Rice. Super yummy! Hahanap hanapin mo talaga! Take note Dimsum Break doesn't use MSG!
Cap your meal with the delicious coconut cream. Oh! Fall in love with their mango custard, very delicious, manggang mangga talaga!
As for the ambiance, I am sure, like me, you'll also be fascinated with Dimsum Break's Dimsum wall decor and steamer Basket lamps. It was pure genius!  I love it!
Plenty of other restaurants come and go over the decades in Cebu but Dimsum Break has very good food that stood the test of time. Today, after a couple of decades of evolution, occasional menu additions, tweaks here and there and a steady growth trend upwards, Dimsum Break stands ingrained as a legitimate piece of Cebuano culture, as much a part of the city’s landscape and history.
The movers and shakers of Dimsum Break. Thank you so much to Ms. Tish and Ms. Mae Ilagan for the invitation. The company started in 1969 as "Ding How" then became "Ding Qua Qua" then "Harbor City", and the most recent, "Dimsum Break", whatever name they use the Cebuanos will always love their Sweet and Sour Pork and Steamed Rice. They are now operating a total of 16 branches in Cebu. Having them at SM Annex is heaven's answer to all Cebuanos who are now based here in Metro Manila.
One could never have enough of Dimsum Break's offerings! Mapababalik balik ka sa mura at sarap! Try it, you'll love it!

Dimsum Break is located at the 3rd floor of SM City North Edsa The Annex.

VIDEO: Zoren Legaspi Carmina Villaroel Surprise Wedding

VIDEO: Zoren Legaspi Carmina Villaroel Surprise Wedding
Finally, after 12 years of living in together, Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi tie the knot in a surprise wedding at Fernwoods last night November 15, 2012.
All along, the unsuspecting bride Carmina Villaroel thought that the gown she's wearing is part of a “family product photoshoot” at the Fernbrook Gardens in Las Piñas City Thursday evening.

A script that only Zoren Legaspi and his “accomplices” knew  unfolded a real-life drama that brought Carmina Villaroel into tears.

“Will you marry me?” asked Zoren, who was in tuxedo, when he proposed to the unsuspecting bride. Surprised, Carmina still managed to say “yes” to her celebrity partner of 12 years.

Their twins, Cassandra and Maverick, then entered the scene and demanded that their parents get married “tonight!”
Zoren and Carmina tied the knot that very evening.

One of the principal sponsors, former chair of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, Grace Poe Llamanzares said that the wedding was so touching and yes, she herself cried a few times as did many of the guests and, of course, the bride and the newly wed couple's daughter Cassandra.

It was a civil wedding officiated by Court of Appeals Justice Amy Javier.

Designer Paul Cabral organized the entire wedding ceremony.

Among the principal sponsors are:
  •  Kris Aquino
  •  Eric Quizon
  •  Sharon Cuneta
  •  Ben Chan
  •  Felix Ang
  • John Concepcion
  •  Cory Vidanes
  •  Grace Poe Llamanzares

Welcome
