Kiong Hee Huat Tsai!

Kiong Hee Huat Tsai!

Kiong hee huat tsai! (pronounced as ki-yong hi hu-wat chay in Hokkien). Happy Chinese New Year 2014 everyone.

A lot of my pure breed Pinoy friends keeps on asking me the difference between the commercial greetings we all hear and see on print, radio, online media and television,

Here are the greetings and their meanings:
  • Kung Hei Fat Choi or Gong Hey Fat Choy  (Cantonese for ''Congratulations and wishing you prosperity'' / a New Year greeting meaning, "May you become prosperous) - Probably the most famous phrase worldwide.
  • Gong Xi Fa Cai (Mandarin)
Hookien- Sun nien fai lok ( meaning, "Happy new year")
Mandarin-  Xin nian yu kuai

Tsinoys will appreciate to hear the greeting in the dialect they understand. So, greet them based on what language they use.

Cantonese is one of the 9 other groups of dialects in China and is most commonly spoken in Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macau.

Hokkien is the dialect spoken in Fujian province where most of the Chinese-Filipinos came from.

Good luck and have a happy life! Kiong Hee Huat Tsai!

VIDEO: CCTV Footage in Vhong Navarro's Case

VHONG NAVARRO: CCTV Footage
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday released the footage taken from closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) of Forbeswood Heights Condominium in Taguig City where Vhong Navarro was beaten up by a group of men led by businessman Cedric Lee.
The NBI presented the footage taken from the CCTV cameras at the condominium's main gate, lobby and elevator.

NBI assistant regional director Vicente de Guzman, head of the investigating team in the case, said the CCTV videos support the testimony of Navarro, who denied that he attempted to rape Deniece Cornejo inside her unit at the second floor of the building on January 22.

Lee has claimed in several interviews that he saw Navarro on top of Cornejo in her room, prompting him to beat up the TV host-actor and conduct a citizen's arrest.

However, the CCTV footage shows that after Navarro entered the condo, Cornejo quickly left leaving Navarro behind in the unit. Lee and several others then enter the condominium.

"Ang mga ebidensya po natin apart from the testimony of Vhong Navarro, is the video itself. Dito po nagtutugma yung testimony ni Mr. Vhong Navarro with that of what we saw in the CCTV,"de Guzman said.

De Guzman noted that only about a minute after Navarro went inside the condominium building at 10:38 p.m., Cornejo was seen going out, supposedly leaving behind the "It's Showtime" host inside her unit.

It was only after several minutes that Cornejo was seen going back inside the condominium and riding the elevator up to the second floor, where her unit was located.

During that time when Cornejo was outside, Lee and at least five other men were seen entering the building then riding the elevator also up to the second floor.

At 11:12 p.m., Navarro, who was already beaten up and whose hands were tied behind his back, was seen riding the elevator from the second floor of the building along with Lee and the other men as well as Cornejo and Lee's sister, Bernice Lee.

Timeline

Citing the CCTV footage, the NBI presented a timeline of the circumstances around the time the TV host-actor was mauled inside Cornejo's condominium unit.

Before presenting the CCTV footage taken at the condo's elevator, the NBI noted that the time stamp at the elevator's CCTV was not synchronized with the time at the lobby's CCTV.

The time at the elevator's CCTV was 40 minutes late compared to the real time at the lobby's CCTV.

Footage taken from the CCTV camera at the building's lobby showed Navarro entering the condominium alone at 22:38 p.m. or 10:38 p.m. of January 22.

He entered the elevator and went up to the second floor of the building at 10:39 p.m. (9:59 in elevator's CCTV time).

At 10:40 p.m., Cornejo was seen riding the elevator towards the first floor and leaving the condominium.

At 10:41 p.m., a man identified as Lee entered the building. Lee then rode the elevator and went out also at the second floor at 10:43 p.m. (10:03 in elevator CCTV's time).

At that time, the NBI stressed that Cornejo had already left Navarro inside her unit, which means Lee could not have witnessed Navarro on top of her in her room as the businessman has alleged in several interviews.

"I think it's not possible yung sinasabi nilang attempt to rape Ms. Cornejo... Kasi po very glaring dito sa ating footage na there was no incident na si Deniece was inside that room," de Guzman said.

At 10:43 p.m., just two minutes after Lee arrived, two men, one of them wearing a white shirt and glasses identified as Ferdinand Guerrero, also entered the condo and went up the second floor.

Just seconds after that, Cornejo was seen going back to the building. While she was talking to a security guard, Bernice Lee and another man yet to be identified were seen at the door.

Accompanied by the security guard, Cornejo, Bernice and another man then left the building again.

At 10:48 p.m., a man who Navarro identified only as alias "Mike" entered the condo. He also rode the elevator towards the second floor.

The next person to go inside the building was Bernice at 10:56 p.m. However, she was not seen riding the elevator. The NBI said she might have used the stairs instead when she went up the second floor.

At 10:59 p.m., Lee and his sister Bernice entered the elevator, went down the first floor and left the condo.

Lee and Bernice went back to the condo building at 11:01 p.m., already with Cornejo.

At 11:02 p.m. (10:22 in elevator CCTV's time), the three again went up to the second floor.

At 11:13 p.m. (10:33 in elevator CCTV's time), a tied-up Navarro was seen entering the elevator accosted by two men, who were both not seen in the elevator's CCTV footage earlier.

The NBI suspects these two men, one of them identified as bodybuilder Zimmer Rance, were already inside Cornejo's unit when Navarro arrived.

Navarro, Rance and the other still unidentified man were followed inside the elevator by Lee, Mike and another still unidentified man, then Cornejo, Bernice and Guerrero.

All in all, there were 8 suspects in the case, including Cornejo and Lee, the NBI said.

At 11:13 p.m., Navarro and the eight others were seen walking at the lobby towards the door.

The CCTV at the condo's main gate, meanwhile, showed all of them leaving at 11:14 p.m. After that, the NBI said they rushed to a car and proceeded towards the Southern Police District (SPD) where the suspects filed a blotter against Navarro for allegedly attempting to rape Cornejo.

Navarro, for his part, on Tuesday filed charges of serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail and serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense, against Lee, Cornejo and his other attackers.

Great Northern Tour

Honda Philippines Sets the Great Northern Tour

Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the country's No. 1 motorcycle manufacturer and distributor, sets another milestone as it holds the “Great Northern Tour” last January 25 and 26, 2014.
Over 100 Honda riders trailed the northern part of the country in an epic ride from Manila to Baguio and back, proving why Honda motorcycles top the way in fuel economy.
The tour started last January 25, 2014 with a safety ride from Petron Blue Wave in Pasay going up to Baguio City, Athletic Bowl.
The following day, tour participants started the actual fuel economy competition beginning their descent back to SM Mall of Asia in time for the celebration of the Honda “Thanks Day.”
This grand double celebration prepared by HPI serves as a fitting commemoration of their 40th anniversary in the Philippines and the production of its 4 millionth motorcycle unit, two significant milestones that make the company truly proud.
In partnership with Petron, PGA Sompo, Eastwest Insurance and JM Mirasol, riders in their Honda CB110s, XRMs, Wave Dash conquered the long and winding roads of Baguio to Manila as part of their serious attempts to set newfuel efficiency records. The riders enjoyed the rewardingexperience as they were given an opportunity to set their own milestone with their Honda motorcycles, all built-to-last because of their renowned toughness, sporty appeal and powerful performance.
In the automatic (AT) category, Honda also proved its motorcycle models’ superiority. Twenty Honda BeAt riders hit the road together with the purpose of showcasing the supremacy of Honda BeAt in fuel saving even during long rides.Riders were all proven correct as the Honda BeAt surpassed their expectations upon revelation of champions’ records.

Over the years, Honda has developed motorcycles that are hallmarks of offering outstanding fuel efficiency to consumers while delivering powerful performance for both on and off-road travels.

“We have more reasons to celebrate and what best to do it than with an exciting tour that will test the mettle of various Honda motorcycles when it comes to quality and fuel efficiency, as we push them to the limit to show our customers the amount of quality we put in its manufacture. We have been in the motorcycle manufacturing business for more than 40 years now and we are proud to have achieved our objective, which is also part of our vision of being ‘a company that society wants to exist,’” explains Lemuel Buenaflor, HPI Advertising Supervisor.

Deniece Milinette Cornejo: A Victim or A Mastermind?

Deniece Milinette Cornejo: A Victim or A Mastermind?
Everybody was asking about the identity of the lady friend of Vhong Navarro, who cries attempted rape the other day. The lady friend was identified by Vhong Navarro during his interview with Boy Abunda in The Buzz ng Bayan as Deniece Milinette Cornejo. Who is she? Is she the real victim or the master mind? She is said to be the lady friend that Vhong Navarro visited at her condominium in Forbeswood Heights Condominium, Taguig City, Philippines.

VHONG NAVARRO: Exclusive Interview at The Buzz ng Bayan

VHONG NAVARRO: Exclusive Interview at The Buzz ng Bayan
Vhong Navarro finally face the issue.

It's Showtime Host-actor Vhong Navarro denied allegations that he raped a woman which provoked a group of men to attack him inside a condominium unit at The Fort in Taguig last January 22.

For the first time since the news broke on Friday, Navarro detailed what transpired on the night he was attacked.

Below is the transcript of Navarro’s full interview on “Buzz ng Bayan” which aired Sunday.

From P200,000, to P500,000 umabot pa ng P1 million at sinagad pa nila ng P2 million.

Tatawag daw sila at magte-text kung saang bank account and saang bangko.

BA: Ano ba talaga ang nagyari? Paano kayo nagkita? Ang daming lumalabas na mga kwento. Diumano’y ikaw ay na-set up.

Niyaya niya ako umakyat, may dala akong white wine dahil sabi niya kasi 'yun lang ang pwede niyang inumin.

BA: Magkaibigan ba kayo ni Deniece?

VN: Opo, kakilala ko na po siya two years ago pa.

BA: So ano ang intensyon mo ng pagdalaw mo nung January 17? Was it upon her invitation?

VN: Invitation niya po.

BA: First time ba ito or nangyari na ba ito dati?

VN: First time ulit naming magkikita after namin mag-meet two years ago.

BA: Was it a friendly meeting?

VN: Yes.

BA: Hindi mo girlfriend?

VN: No.

BA: So pagdating mo doon, sinalubong ka sa lobby, umakyat kayo.

VN: Opo. Sinamahan niya ako hanggang pagpasok. Nag-inuman kami.

BA: After that, nag-usap? Paano kayo naghiwalay?

So sinara niya, ni-lock niya.

From bad boy, biglang sweet na.

BA: These are text messages? Nasa iyo ito?

VN: Binura nila.

BA: Ilan sila?

Parang ganun.

VN: 'Yung pulis, kaya lang kasama 'yung Mike, may isa pang lalaki and mayroon pang isa. Kasama po nila itong mga sumama. Binaba nila ako sa kotse ko. Kumatok pa yung Mike tapos sabi, ‘O mag-ingat kayo.’

VN: January 23.

BA: Ang inyong agreement ay ibibigay ang?

VN: Ang pera ng January 23.

BA: May oras?

May binigay silang bangko. After nun, kumatok yung Mike tapos sabi nung Mike, ‘O ingat kayo.’

Anything can happen.

Pwedeng mangyari ulit.

Wala akong assurance kung ilalabas ba nila 'yung video or what.

Sabi niya lang, ‘I’m sorry, Vhong.’

VN: Yes.

BA: Vhong, anong natutunan mo dito?

Vhong Navarro's Lady Friend Cries Attempted Rape

Vhong Navarro's Lady Friend Cries Attempted Rape
And the saga continues... Allegedly, the real reason behind the mauling incident involving Vhong Navarro is attempted rapeComedian/ TV Host Vhong Navarro was accused by a 22-year old lady, a student, whose real name was withheld because of the sensitivity of the issue. The girl is the lady friend that Vhong visited at her condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) last Wednesday night, January 22, 2014.
Based on the complaint in the police blotter which the 22-year old lady filed at the BGC precinct, tinangka di umano siyang halayin ni Ferdinand "Vhong" Navarro nang ito ay dumalaw sa kanya pasado alas dyes ng gabi noon Miyerkules, January 22, 2014 sa kanyang condo unit sa Bonifacio Global City.

FENG SHUI MASTER HANZ CUA: Sees Hotter Year, More Disasters

FENG SHUI MASTER HANZ CUA: Sees Hotter Year, More Disasters
Feng Shui Master Hanz Cua shared his readings for 2014 in a press conference in Mandaluyong City. According to the Feng Shui Master, 2014 will be a hot year as disasters will continue to devastate parts of the country.

Oh, No! Not again. That is so sad. After what our country had been through last year, this revelation is just heart breaking.

Feng Shui expert Master Hanz Cua verified that he saw the following events this 2014:
  • We will experience hotter weather this year. Rain will be less which will create havoc to the agriculture sector.
  • Still reeling from the effects of super typhoon Yolanda that devastated several provinces in the Visayas region last November and killed more than 6,000 persons already, Master Hanz forecasts the possibility of another weather disturbance near the strength of super typhoon Yolanda to slam the country.
  • It's the Year of the Horse. The Wood and Fire elements will be dominant in 2014. And because it will be hot this year, water is expected to evaporate fast. Its effect could trigger strong weather disturbances. Another super typhoon is not far-fetched. Later, we should expect heavy rains and more floods,'' said Master Hanz.
  • Fire is one of the prevailing elements this year. With this, expect heated arguments, anger and ever war on the forefront. There will be tensions in the Middle East and Korea as well.
  • Master Hanz also foresees another disease of pandemic proportion that might hit the country sometime between April and September.
  • Sex scandals and love triangles will still heat up due to the appearance of the Peach Blossom Star. "Relationships will also be 'hot.' Many people will do everything for love,'' Master Hanz said. Yet the year 2014 will be a good year to get married.
One of the good news in 2014 is that the Philippines will maintain good economic growth. It will rise in April, which he said, is a good month to invest in stocks.

Master Hanz said that the lucky businesses for 2014 include telecommunications which belong to the Metal Element and restaurants under the Fire Element.

Sectors deemed lucky are the following:
  •  Southwest
  •  South
  •  West
  •  Center.
Unlucky directions:
  •  Northeast
  •  East
  •  Southeast
Lucky colors this year are:
  •  red
  •  orange
  •  yellow
  •  green.
This 2014, the Yellow Misfortune Star sits on the Northwest. "Every year, those who practice Feng Shui always take note of the Yellow Misfortune Star because that's the area where misfortune will likely to hit,''Master Hanz said.

Last year, the Yellow Misfortune Star affected the center sector. "There were earthquakes and weather disturbances that hit the central part of the country.'' In 2011, the Misfortune Star hit the East sector where a tsunami devastated Japan, an Asian country located on the east.

But Master Hanz, who is also into face reading, Chinese astrology, and tarot and palm reading, said that these problems can be cured with correct practices and enhancers. "With correct charms and practices, the problem can be cured 90 percent. We still make our own destiny.''
2014 is the Year of the Horse based on the 12-year animal cycle which appears on the Chinese zodiac sign. While the tradition originated from China, Filipinos have embraced the culture of Feng Shui for many years now. The Chinese New Year will be on January 31, 2014.

In anger, she came to Old Town of Jingtong where she met Xiao Mo, a warmhearted man. Xiao Mo helped May find a dwelling place, and introduced her to work at a local restaurant. Thanks to their constant contacts, they made a good impression with each other. May found happiness and consolation from the old streets of the small town, and her voice was getting better and better. However, May had left her heart at another place. Gradually, Xiao Mo understood that when one deliberately disappears, one wants to be looked for by others. Along with a sudden appearance of Jack, a muckraking journalist, the situation began to develop towards the uncontrolled direction.

City Monkey

He Zhipeng is a senior student in high school who lives in a big old Beijing hutong yard with his mother and grandmother. He loves parkour, an extremely dangerous sport in most people’s eyes. With his good psychology and physique, he becomes the star player of “City Monkey” parkour club. But his mother strongly disapproves it and hopes he could focus only on his entrance exams to university. Clashes of different concepts, rebellion of the youth, and persistence to the ideal are unavoidable problems for them. What would the two generations do?

Aftershock

Tangshan, 1976. Two seven-year-old twin children are buried under the rubble of the devastating earthquake. The rescue team explains to their mother, Li Yuanni that freeing either child will almost certainly result in the death of the other. She is forced to make the most difficult decision of her life and must choose between her children. Li Yuanni has no idea that her decision is overheard by her daughter Fang Deng, the female twin. Although she has been left behind as dead, the little girl miraculously survives for several more days before being pulled clear by another rescue team who believe that she is simply a corpse. She wakes up in the pouring rain next to the dead body of her father. Suffering from the emotional shocks of the disaster and the painful memory of her mother’s choice, Fang Deng refuses to reveal her identity. She is adopted by a middle-aged Chinese couple and years later moves to Canada to marry. Shadowed by the traumatic experiences of the earthquake and devastated by her mother’s decision to abandon her, she continues to be emotionally withdrawn throughout her adult years.

Where is My Home

Mrs. Geng is a simple village mother who raised two children on her own. Her son made his way to the city and offers to have her come live with him and his family. Despite the improved material conditions of the city, Mrs. Geng cannot help feeling isolated and lonely. It takes some time for her children to understand how she feels, and they rebuild their family’s affection.

The I-go King and his Son

Liu Yishou, an amateur Go player, is called by his friends “the king of Go”. Liu Yishou has been laid off quite a long time ago and now, with no other skills to make a living, teaches Go in a humble training course for children. Life has been hard, and his wife has decided to divorce him. His young son, Xiaochuan, has chosen to stay with him through his difficulties. On an unexpected occasion, Xiaochuan displayed an amazing talent for Go, and his father vowed to support him to further develop his gift for the game. They confronted challenges, but with courage, persistence and profound love between father and son, they eventually arrived at the destination towards which they were heading.

1911 Revolution

As the country enters the new century, China is facing a crisis. Two warring factions have emerged, starvation amongst the citizens is rampant and political reforms have made matters worse. The seven year old Emperor and his mother, Empress Dowager Longyu (Joan Chen), are out of sync with people’s needs after 250 years of total power. As Huang Xing (Jackie Chan) arrives from his studies on modern warfare in Japan, he finds himself picking up his sword to lead a rebellion against the powerful Qing Dynasty and the New Army.

Let’s Fall in Love

Tan Momo, who showed his natural gift in music in his childhood, entered the Conservatory of Music to learn to play Guqin (seven-stringed plucked instrument) smoothly. His teacher placed great hopes on him and his girlfriend Xia Fei had the greatest esteem for him. Upon their graduation, Momo, Xia Fei and other young people who cherished dreams finally walked out of the campus and began to experience the ups and downs in real life. While in front of conflicts between their ideals and family relation, love and morality, what would they choose.

Li Mi Conjecture

Due to the intervention of her parents, taxi driver girl Li Mi had to break up with her long-term boyfriend, Fang Wen, who had disappeared from her life yet seemed to remain connected. For four years, Li Mi had continued to search for his whereabouts in a constant tug-of-war between hope and despair. An eerie murder was witnessed, leading her to a man nearly identical to her missing lover. Could he be the one she has been looking for? Her life suddenly changes. Then come terrible yet pitiful drug dealers, and irascible but highly duteous police detectives. Behind the cascades of mysteries, compromises lie still between those who were once in love.

All movies are in Chinese with English subtitles This will
give you and your children a glimpse of the Chinese culture while enjoying Chinese quality films. I am so excited! I couldn't wait for the festival to start. Please share with your facebook friends, twitter and instagram followers!
