Antistax®: The secret to healthy legs

Antistax®: The secret to healthy legs

Just like some of you, I always thought that varicose veins is a cosmetic problem. When I was invited at the launching of
Antistax® at Luzon Ballroom, Makati ShangriLa Hotel in Makati City I learned that varicose veins could also be a manifestation of a much deeper health problem like an early warning signs of a progressive vein disease called Chronic Venous Insufficiency. If left ignored, this condition can have a significant impact on the legs’ function, thereby, affecting one’s mobility. It is a good thing that Boehringer Ingelheim (Phil.) Inc. brings Antistax®, one of the world’s leading anti-varicose supplements, to the Philippines. Now, Filipinos and Filipinas have a natural way to prevent many of the commonplace leg problems as

Antistax®, the first and only anti-varicose supplement in the local market, is the perfect synergy of nature and science in leg health management. It is proven safe and effective in helping strengthen and protect women’s legs from the inside out. It also helps restore and regenerate women’s natural mobility by preventing leg vein problems such as pain, heaviness (ngalay), swelling, and varicose veins.

“We are very pleased to introduce Antistax® to Filipinas who, like many women all over the world, value their legs not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their functional value. We know that healthy legs are important in order for them to live an active and quality life and we’re certain that Antistax can help them with that,” says Mely Guerrero, Group Brand Manager, Boehringer Ingelheim’s Consumer Healthcare Division.

This is a milestone for Filipinas who have been weighed down by these leg problems, unaware of the cause of their complaints. The complacency to address their leg issues stem from a clear misconception and lack of understanding about vein conditions. But Filipinas are not alone. In fact, a study conducted among 4,000 women from 4 different countries in Europe and Latin America reveals that nearly 25% of women experience leg pain. 16% did not consult anyone about their problem and another 14% spoke to friends and family rather than their doctor. Women’s leg issues are simply trivialized into an aesthetic rather than a functional concern because they are perceived to be not life-threatening.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a condition where leg veins are already weak and damaged, preventing them from pumping blood back to the heart. Apart from leg pain and appearance of varicose veins, it manifests through symptoms like skin changes, itching and swelling. CVI is also more common among women than men. Other risk factors include heredity, age, weight, pregnancy and prolonged sitting/standing. These signs are compounded by a lifestyle that puts undue pressure on the legs.

The key to preventing varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency is to improve blood circulation in the leg area. Good thing there is Antistax® to provide leg vein protection. Dubbed as a leg vein specialist, Antistax® is made with natural red vine leaf extract, which is known to contain a unique ingredient called bio-active Flaven™. The red vine leaf extract is made from a special variety of grape leaves which are carefully harvested and processed to ensure that the bio-active Flaven™ content is the same for each tablet.

Bio-active Flaven™ is a potent combination of flavonoids which have been scientifically proven to improve blood circulation in the legs, thus preventing common leg vein problems of heavy, achy, tired and swollen legs. It acts by repairing and protecting the vein walls to fight against the damaging process of this vein disease.

Through Antistax®, women can now do this without resorting to costly and invasive procedures as injections or surgery. With just one tablet a day, women can now take the first step in caring for their legs’ health.

To celebrate the launch of Antistax® in the Philippines, Boehringer Ingelheim commissioned five Filipina photographers to showcase photos that capture gorgeous legs of women in various shapes, sizes, and situations. Titled Legs for Life, the exhibit aims for women to understand and appreciate that beautiful legs are legs that are healthy and capable of bringing delight to people with every stride.

With Antistax®, women will no longer have to worry about experiencing leg pains and problems, and instead continue being their active self and engage in life more with their healthy, beautiful legs.

Antistax® is a product of Boehringer Ingelheim (Philippines), Inc. and is available in all leading pharmacies and drugstores nationwide. No approved therapeutic claims.

How To Commute To Tagaytay

How To Commute To Tagaytay

Option #1 By Bus
The following bus companies provide transport between Manila and Batangas, with Tagaytay CIty as a major stop. Please take note that these buses travel a slow route - Aguinaldo Highway, which traverses Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas, and Silang in Cavite.

  • Batman Star Express
  • Golden Dragon (terminal – behind Sogo Hotel and McDonalds near MRT Taft Avenue)
  • San Agustin
  • Erjohn
  • Kirby, Mindanao Express
  • Lorna Buses (starting point Lawton, passing Taft Avenue, turning right at Quirino, and left to Roxas in Manila, proceeding to Coastal Road and Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.)
Kindly ask the bus conductor to let you off in Tagaytay Rotonda.

FROM CUBAO

There are buses going to Nasugbo in Batangas parked in front of Alimall, Cubao. There are Air-conditioned buses available. I still don't know the fare as of this writing because we usually bring our own car whenever we visit Tagaytay City.

FROM TAFT

You could also try the bus terminal at Taft station. If you are coming from MRT, take the exit at the left side. You will find Crow buses going to Olivarez/ Nasugbu at the back of Dunkin Donuts/ Chowking/ Sogo. It will pass Tagaytay City.

Travel time is approximately 3 hours. So that's a pretty long ride if you avail of public transportation.

Option #2 By Van

There are vans going to Tagaytay in Mandaluyong just in front of Jollibee in Starmall, Mandaluyong.

You could also ride a van located along a street before Metropoint mall along Edsa-Pasay Rotonda. The van is going to Batangas but it will pass by Tagaytay City via Sta. Rosa exit. This will shorten your travel time to just about 1 hour and a half. The route is through Southwoods exit then to Aguinaldo highway, Silang, Cavite.

Option #3 By private vehicle

By private vehicle from Metro Manila:

Go to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from any of the following points:

Buendia Flyover (Gil Puyat Flyover)
Skyway: Gil Puyat Ramp
Skyway: Makati
Arnaiz Avenue / Pasay Road Intersection
Skyway: Don Bosco Magallanes
Skyway Entrance: Magallanes
Nichols Toll Barrier
C5
Merville
Skyway: Bicutan
Bicutan
Skyway: Dr. A. Santos (Sucat)
Sucat
Skyway: Alabang South Station
Alabang
Filinvest
Susana Heights

Note: If you choose to take the Skyway after the toll plaza, get off the ramp leading to the rest of SLEX below. Otherwise you will end up in Alabang-Zapote.

  • Leave SLEX at the Greenfield City/ Eton City Exit (Malitlit Exit).
  • Drive along the Greenfield Parkway, passing Eton City on the right and Pramana on the left.
  • Three kilometres from SLEX you will arrive at a fork in the road.
  • Take the left road which is United Blvd.
  • Drive straight ahead for the next four kilometers.
  • At the intersection just past the Southern Luzon Hospital, drive straight ahead.
  • Turn right at San Bruno Drive passing Paseo de Sta Rosa.
  • Drive straight ahead until you reach the Tagaytay-Sta.Rosa Road where you turn left across from Rose and Grace Restaurant.
  • Drive along the Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road for the next seven kilometers passing Sta. Elena Subdivision, Brittany, Nuvali, and Crown Asia.
  • Continue until the two-lane road passing through Silang, Cavite. Landmarks are Pasong Langka, Ponderosa, and Windsor Heights.
  • Follow this road until you arrive at the Tagaytay Public Market just several meters from the Tagaytay-Calamba Road.
  • Turn left here -- you will be heading in the direction of the Picnic Grove. (Meanwhile, enjoy breathtaking views of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano on your right).
  • Turn left again on Kaykulot, a single lane road just past the entrance to the Picnic Grove. The Tagaytay Retreat and Training Center is 800 meters from this point

Travel time: About 1 1/2 hours from Manila
Toll fee: I still have to recheck before posting it here.

Enjoy Tagaytay!

SCIENCE IS MADNESS

SCIENCE IS MADNESS

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down! - source fb science is madness

I came across this post in FB and decided to share it with you my dear readers. Maybe unlike all of you, I tend to hold on my anger which is bad- No- really really bad 'coz it brings nothing but sadness and fear. I am a very vocal person and a lot of people don't like that. They want people and friends who won't say the truth on their faces. What they want are backstabbing bitch and monsters.

They presented to us the advantages of a Vending Machine Business.

  • I learned that it is an all cash business. All sales transactions are immediately paid in cash. No credit. ( Walang utang)
  • Vending machines, in general, require only minimal maintenance.
  • There’s no need to hire sales employees, and your business is potentially open 24 hours a day. Because there is minimal overhead costs, you can sell your products at very competitive prices.
  • It is recession proof. It is a fact that people tend to buy more in retail than in bulk when times are hard.
Factor For Vending Machine Business Success

The success of a vending machine business primarily relies on three things:

Location. Location. Location.  Yes, folks. You must be able to choose the right location to enjoy maximum profits.

Question: How do you determine if a location is a good place to put up a vending machine?

Answer:

  1. The area should have constant foot traffic.
  2. Second, the area should be secure and safe from vandals.
  3. The product or products you'll offer must compliment the market profile of the area.
The third tip is actually the most important. Have you ever wondered why you see toilet paper vending machines inside restrooms, coffee vending machines near offices, soda vending machines in parking lots and candy or gumball vending machines in places where there are lots of children?
People buy from vending machines usually for a reason/s

  • Out of need
  • Out of impulse.
Thus the vendo machine containing toilet papers are exactly located where we need them. coffee to awaken sleepy employees, sodas for the waiting drivers or to accompany us while driving and candies to tempt the sweet tooth of children.

Things To Consider When Starting A Vending Machine Business:

  • Find a suitable location and decide what products would do well in the area.
  • Inquire from the establishment or building administrator and ask the requirements and terms for putting up a vending machine in the area.
  • Consult the local government to know the legal process of getting business permits for your venture.
  • Look for vending machine suppliers or find sellers of second hand or used vending machines.

  • Depending on the supplier, vending machines can either be bought or leased. Most of the time, they are franchised.
  • Monitor your inventory. Know your fast moving items to ensure that your vending machine will never run out of stock.
  • Regularly visit your location. Doing so will give you more insight on the quality of foot traffic and customers that you get.
  • Ensure that your vending machine is always clean, working well, attractive and readily visible. A dusty or faulty equipment will make people think that your products are old and of poor quality.
  • Before buying, leasing or franchising a vending machine business, always make sure that you are dealing with a reputable dealer or supplier. Ask for their terms and conditions when it comes to warranty, inventory, service and maintenance of the equipment.

PMAP: 50th PMAP Annual Conference

PMAP: 50th PMAP Annual Conference
Calling all PMAP Members and soon to be Members:

The People Management Association of the Philippines invites you to the 50th PMAP Annual Conference happening on September 25 to 27, 2013 at the Philippine International Convention Center

Theme: Global Opportunities. Leaping Forward. Defying Limits.
The global economic landscape is seeing a new dawn, with Asia as its center and the Philippines, its sweet spot. The turnaround could not have come at a more opportune time. A young Filipino workforce is raring to go and governance is breaking through a renaissance of accountability and transparency. The message is unequivocal: We are open for business! It’s all systems go.

This year’s Annual Conference recognizes that challenge: we are at the center of Global Opportunities. But more than recognizing that reality, we see it as our mandate. There’s no other way but to seize these possibilities. We are now at the brink of living our dreams and imaginings. There are no excuses. This time, we have to make it work!

The horizon has opened up and all eyes are on the Philippines as the world’s new economic tiger. The ball’s on our court and the challenge is to leap forward. We can no longer afford to move at our current pace. Catch-up, leapfrog… that is what we should do. But to realize this, we need to defy limits, break free from our self-imposed restrictions that used to define who we are and what we can do.

As we usher in this golden year of the PMAP Annual Conference, we take stock of the rich mine of ideas in our sharing and learning community. Fifty years of thought leadership, advocacy and camaraderie. A story that in this milestone year turns into our quest for GOLD.

We EXPLORE the terrain as we paint the global economic landscape, create strategies, and search for talent. We MINE our collective experience as we extract issues, build consensus, and crystallize our advocacies. We REFINE our practice as we re-examine functional HR competencies. We SMELT the ore of our skills as we deep-dive into focused workshops to forge proficiency, mastery, and leadership. And we SHOWCASE best practices in HR and people management as we celebrate models and successes.

This is our promise:

  • three full days of learning
  • plenary sessions with topnotch global, regional, and local leaders
  • concurrent workshops and sessions on a wide array of HR topics encompassing various learning needs
  • advocacy and thought leadership sessions designed to crystallize PMAP's position on burning issues of the day
  • satellite conferences on HR focus areas of special interest and concern
  • structured networking sessions designed to maximize professional and personal network building
  • the biggest HR exposition ever!
  • a spectacular awards night

INTRODUCING THE BAG WITH A TASK: BagsGo Reusable Bags

INTRODUCING THE BAG WITH A TASK: BagsGo Reusable Bags

My environmentalist friends especially Ate Dindin and Cathy will be grinning from ear to ear when they read this post. Let’s face it we are all scared of losing the only planet we have. Slowly, we are becoming more eco-aware, and we’re doing whatever small thing we can to save the Earth. This is exactly what this new, revolutionary reusable bag is trying to do: HELP YOU HELP SAVE MOTHER EARTH.

Aptly named BagsGo The bag with a task is created with lightweight RIPSTOP fabric used to make parachutes. I am happy when I learned that it is also tear and water resistant BagsGo is completely washable, durable and most importantly, 100% REUSABLE: BagsGo Reusable bags are the perfect alternative to plastic bags, and can be used in various ways. And for every BagsGo sold, a percentage goes to a foundation that supports ethical stewardship of the environment. So not only are you helping to save the Earth, you are also funding an organization to continue doing the same.

You are not only a good Filipino but a person with a task.  You can lead by example by simply using recyclable bags like BagsGo. Grab one now at the nearest Fully Booked outlet, Sesou Nature stores, or order online at zalora.com.

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL MOTORCYCLE USERS

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL MOTORCYCLE USERS

I'll be writing in Filipino because today, February 25, 2013, is the 27th year anniversary of the Edsa Revolution Day.

Be safe everyone.

NOEL CABANGON: Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino Book Launching

NOEL CABANGON: Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino Book Launching
The song that left a mark on everybody's heart is now a book. I am one of the lucky Filipinos to be invited at yesterday's book launching of "Ako'y isang Mabuting Pilipino" by Noel Cabangon.

In the past, I had witnessed several of his live performances. I am proud to tell everyone that I really idolize Sir Noel Cabangon. Not only because Noel Cabangon is an excellent songwriter/composer and singer but also because he is a good Filipino.
If you have not heard this song before, then let me share the video and the lyrics of the song to you now. Enjoy!

Ako'y isang Mabuting Pilipino
by Noel Cabangon

Ako’y isang mabuting Pilipino
Minamahal ko ang bayan ko
Tinutupad ko ang aking mga tungkulin
Sinusunod ko ang kanyang mga alituntunin

Tumatawid ako sa tamang tawiran
Sumasakay ako sa tamang sakayan
Pumipila at ‘di nakikipag-unahan

[chorus]

‘pagkat ako’y isang mabuting Pilipino
Minamahal ko ang bayan ko
Tinutupad ko ang aking mga tungkulin
Sinusunod ko ang kanyang mga alituntunin

‘Di ako nagongotong o nagbibigay ng lagay
Ticket lamang ang tinatanggap kong ibinibigay
Ako’y nakatayo doon mismo sa kanto
At ‘di nagtatago sa ilalim ng puno

‘Di ako nagkakalat ng basura sa lansangan
‘Di bumubuga ng usok ang aking sasakyan
Inaayos ko ang mga kalat sa basurahan
Inaalagaan ko ang ating kapaligiran

[repeat chorus]

Lagi akong nakikinig sa aking mga magulang
Kaya’t pag-aaral ay aking pinagbubutihan
‘di ako gumagamit ng bawal na gamot
O kaya’y tumatambay at sa eskwela’y ‘di pumapasok

Ipinagtatanggol ko ang aking karangalan
‘pagkat ito lamang ang tangi kong kayamanan
‘di ko ibinebenta ang aking kinabukasan
Ang boto ko’y aking pinahahalagahan

[repeat chorus]

Ako’y isang tapat at totoong lingkod ng bayan
Pabor o lagay ay ‘di ko pinapayagan
Tapat ang serbisyo ko sa mamamayan
‘Di ko ibinubulsa ang pera ng bayan

Ipinagtatanggol ko ang mamamayang Pilipino
Mga karapatan nila’y kinikilala ko
Iginagalang ko ang aking kapwa tao
Ipinaglalaban ko ang dangal ng bayan ko.

[repeat chorus twice]

Pagkat ako’y isang mabuting Pilipino
Pagkat ako’y isang mabuting Pilipino
Pagkat ako’y isang mabuting Pilipino

YOSHINOYA: Gyudon Eating Contest Grand Winners

YOSHINOYA: Gyudon Eating Contest Grand Winners
All challengers were given fifteen (15) minutes to dig in and stuff themselves with the world’s best-selling Gyudon(beef) from Yoshinoya. Everybody had a hard time chomping down the heavy rice meal topped with thin slices of sumptuous beef. Some challengers are on the verge of tears as they tried to outdo one another. Our fellow blogger, Florencio Jusay Jr., grand winner of the media challenge, shared that on his third bowl, he was already crying. The grand winner eat the Gyudon while standing up. He remained standing even after the contest but I admire all of them because the challengers fought until the end as they flipped one bowl after another as many and as fast as they could. The top three finalists with the most number of bowls consumed and the least weight of leftovers after the allotted time were declared winners at the Yoshinoya Gyudon Eating Challenge today, February 23, 2013. The Yoshinoya Gyudon Eating Challenge is now on its fourth year.
The Grand Winner of the exciting Yoshinoya Gyudon Eating Contest won for himself the grand prize of Php 100,000 pesos, beating 28 other contestants at the New Glorietta Activity Center in Makati, Philippines. He consumed eight ( 8 ) bowls of Yoshinoya Beef Gyudon.
Second prize winner is Justin Cardano. He won Php 50,000 pesos. I told him that I remember him from Chef Noodles Ddukbokki (떡볶이) Eating Challenge where he emerged as last year's grand winner.

The third prize winner got Php 25,000 pesos.
Our fellow blogger, Florencio Jusay Jr. or FPJ as we fondly call him, won Php 30,000 pesos for beating Romel Balbin of UNTV, DJ Totoy Bato of Yes FM, and Rusty Roman of Dyaryo Ngayon at the Gyudon Eating Contest for Media. FPJ's record is a total of 6 bowls which he finished in 15 minutes :)

Congratulations everyone! Don't sleep yet, try to walk first! (Jalan Jalan).
At the weekly qualifying rounds which happened last January 21 to February 15, 2013, the participants only had 5 minutes to finish the most number of Gyudon. They tripled the time during the finals and got a record-breaking 8 bowls. Each of the non-winning participants was given a consolation prize of P2,000 worth of Yoshinoya gift certificate.

The Chinese New Year 2013 ushers new endorsers for Blue Water Day Spa. A media launch was held at the Palawan Ballroom of Edsa Shangri-La hotel last February 19, 2013. Handsome Aljur Abrenica, Cute Ian Batherson and Sexy Iya Villania were launched as the new endorsers for Blue Water Day Spa (BWDS).
Leading the pack is Aljur Abrenica who probably possesses one of the sexiest bodies in showbiz, not to mention a captivating smile :-). He doesn't need to say anything. His charm says it all.

He told everyone that a soothing massage is all he needs to rejuvenate, rest and relax.

Aljur shared that in the past, his friends would always invite him to BlueWater Day Spa because they love going there.

Aljur said,"Now that I’m one of the endorsers of BlueWater Day Spa, I will be the one inviting them to try the spa services at BlueWater Day Spa.

Aljur plans to bond with his family and friends at the BlueWater Day Spa movie theater massage. I enjoy their services and how therapists attend to your needs really well,” said Ian. “My personal favorite is the Aroma Chakra Massage.
