Hear Mass in Quiapo Online!

Quiapo Church picture from Wikipedia
Now, devotees and parishioners from all over the world need not come to the Philippines just to hear Mass in Quiapo Church, home of the centuries-old image of the Black Nazarene.

Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, introduced the online streaming of its regular Masses, it was announced last Sunday by its rector, Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio.

The live streaming service was initiated following numerous requests from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), mostly devotees, who wanted to hear Mass but could not do so because of their circumstances.

The live streaming of the hourly Masses—through the church’s website www.quiapochurch.com

Schedule on Fridays begins from
4 a.m. to 12:15 p.m

and resumes at

4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Holy Hour or the Eucharistic adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, every Friday can also be viewed live. scheduled at 3 p.m.

All of the Sunday Masses from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. are also broadcast online.

Children’s Mass or the Misa Pro Populo @ 3 p.m.

Talks being held at Quiapo Church can also be accessed live through the Internet.

WARNING: Attending Masses through live streaming should not be a substitute for attending Mass in person. “Catholics still have to go to Mass in their churches,” said Ignacio.  They are just offering this for those who can’t go to Mass due to their condition.

The Quiapo Church is the permanent dwelling of the 17th century life-sized icon of the Black Nazarene, which draws millions of devotees to a pilgrimage in Quiapo every year during its feast day.Travel & Leisure - Top Blogs Philippines

PNP has just served arrest warrant to former Pres. Arroyo

Southern Police District under the leadership of Senior Superintendent James Bucayo and acting upon the order of National Capital Region Police Office Director Alan Purisima, has just served an arrest warrant for former Pres. Arroyo at her hospital room @ the St. Luke's Medical Center @ the Fort. The arrest warrant was issued and signed by Judge Jesus Mupas of Branch 112 of the Pasay Regional Trial Court.
PNP's Senior Superintendent James Bucayo said Arroyo's husband Mike Arroyo, son Rep. Dato, former members of GMA cabinet, ex DILG Ronnie Puno, ex Solicitor General Devena and CGMA lawyer Atty. Jose Flaminiano were present during the serving of arrest warrant.

Warrant was issued at around 4:30 p.m. and was served at around 6:30 p.m. according to PNP. Police said Arroyo showed no reaction while warrant was being served, her lawyers promised to cooperate. She didn't talk. She just nod.

Senior Superintendent James Bucayo said CGMA lawyer Atty. Jose Flamiano stopped Senior Superintendent Coronel from reading her the Miranda doctrine. Atty Jose Flamiano waived her client's right to be read her Miranda rights because she might be unduly stressed. No pictures was allowed, they want dignity for GMA.

PNP said there are security personnel now guarding outside GMA's room. She is under police custody but CGMA is being allowed to stay in the hospital due to her health condition.

Mug shots and finger printing to be done tomorrow. PNP said Arroyo camp may just provide a photo for the mugshot. And as a courtesy to the former president the PNP allowed CGMA to remain in the hospital until she gets stronger.

Senior Superintendent James Bucayo said they wanted to ask Arroyo's doctors for updates to check if she can be transferred to detention facility or not but they were nowhere to be found. So they will be back tomorrow to ask the doctors of CGMA to determine if and when they can take GMA out of the hospital and put her in SPD detention facility in Taguig.

Meanwhile, NCR CIDG also arrested Former Maguindanao election supervisor Atty. Lintang Bedol and was taken to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, according to Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.  He said that the arrest warrant for Bedol was served at around 6:15 p.m. Friday. He also faces charges of election sabotage.

The CIDG has also served in Bicutan the arrest warrant against Andal Ampatuan Sr., another respondent in the electoral sabotage case.

RTC has exclusive original jurisdiction over cases of electoral sabotage under RA 9369, Art. 268.Travel & Leisure - Top Blogs Philippines

FREE MRT RIDE

A November 18, 2011 press release from the Department of Transportation and Communications

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has thrown its full support behind the “11.20.2011 Run for the Pasig River” on Sunday, November 20, by offering free rides to all participants of the event at the MRT-3 and LRT, from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. the same day.

Participants just need to present their race bibs to avail of the MRT-3 free rides along the stretch of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa). The event will kick off at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, located near the Vito Cruz station of LRT line 1.

Last year, the DOTC also offered free LRT rides to participants of the “10.10.10 Run for the Pasig River,” which broke the world record for the most number of participants in a racing event with 116,086 runners.

“The annual ‘Run for the Pasig River’ is a worthy cause for saving and protecting our environment,” DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas said. “DOTC also strongly supports the use of green technology in certain sectors of the public transport sector, and the antipollution campaign in our roadways.”

DOTC attached agencies such as the Land Transportation Office and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board are currently implementing aggressive programs that encourage Filipino commuters to convert their car engines to compressed natural gas, a more environment-friendly solution that reduces carbon dioxide emission.

“This is in line with the PNoy government’s objective of providing the riding public, our bosses, a convenient and reliable transport system,” Roxas added.

The “Run for Pasig River” is an advocacy of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. The Foundation, with the support of DOTC, is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of participants in a foot race generating public awareness in the importance of cleaning up the Pasig River.

The “11.20.2011 Run for the Pasig River” has 3K, 5K, and 10K categories.
Registration fees are P300 for 3K and 5K, and P450 for the 10K

Students need only to pay P150 for their registration fees for the 3K and 5K by presenting valid identification cards.

Registration has been extended until Saturday (November 19) at the SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, Athlete’s Foot, Glorietta 3, and R.O.X.

Pacquiao Vs. Mayweather on May 5, 2012

Updates:
The possibility of boxing’s richest fight ironically came up in the aftermath of Manny Pacquiao’s controversial win as he challenged unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a showdown the world has long wanted to see.

“Let’s make it happen on May 5,” Pacquiao told sports analyst Max Kellerman inside the ring as the Mexican crowd loudly protested the majority decision favoring the Filipino champion over Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Saturday.

“Let’s give the people a good fight. Let’s get it on,” said Pacquiao. The 32-year-old pound-for-pound champion stretched his win streak to 15 fights with the win, but lacked the overpowering form he had shown in seven fights since a previous controversial triumph over Marquez in 2008.

Mayweather, through adviser Leonard Ellerbe, announced two weeks ago that he would return to the ring on May 5 against the “little fella,” which should be no other than Pacquiao. If that fight happens, both fighters can make no less than $50 million each.

Promoter Bob Arum dismissed Mayweather having already set a date and site for the fight and Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, said he has no business trying to set terms. “I’m kind of tired of Floyd. Shut up and fight or don’t,” Roach said. “He wants to dictate everything. Who is he to make the rules? Then he sends his gopher out to make a speech. Leonard Ellerbe, he’s a gopher. Floyd, speak up. Coming from Ellerbe, who gives a damn?”

After outpointing Marquez, Pacquiao said that he’s open to another fight with the Mexican but called on Mayweather’s name as well. He said he’s ready to take on any fighter his promoter puts in front of him. “It depends on Bob Arum,” he said. Twice, negotiations for the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather bogged down. The fight may or may not happen, but what’s positive at least for now is Pacquiao calling Mayweather’s name.

Fourth fight possible

Pacquiao needed 28 stitches to close a cut over his right eye suffered in a 10th-round head-butt and had two judges who gave him the final round scored it the other way, the fight would have been scored a draw.

Arum dismissed Marquez’s talk that he might retire, saying the likely $10-million payday for a fourth fight could change his mind and that he would try to stage a fourth Marquez-Pacquiao fight next May. Roach said he felt Marquez deserved a rematch before the pound-for-pound king faces Mayweather. If nothing else, the possibility of turning back to Marquez would give Arum some leverage in talks with Mayweather’s camp about terms for a long-sought fight that figures to bring each fighter about $50 million – if it happens.

Mayweather also faces an evidence hearing next month on felony charges of grand larceny, coercion and robbery from a 2010 incident with former girlfriend Josie Harris and two children. He faces up to 34 years in prison.

Money matters most
Just as Pacquiao’s side wants Mayweather to call out the Filipino star, Mayweather’s co-promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, told the Los Angeles Times that he basically wants to see Pacquiao call out Mayweather. “Mayweather wants the fight. If Manny wants Floyd, there’s nothing stopping that fight from happening,” de la Hoya told the newspaper. “Pacquiao fights for the people and the people want him to step up and fight Mayweather.”

Marquez, who claims three wins over Pacquiao but was handed a draw and two losses by judges, also dropped a 12-round decision to Mayweather in 2009 after the American ended a long hiatus. He said Mayweather’s defensive style could give Pacquiao trouble, creating a fight lacking the excitement Marquez helped make. “Commercially it will be a big fight but technically I think the style of Mayweather would get very complicated for Pacquiao,” Marquez said. Commercially figures to be what will matter most.

After the controversial 2008 fight, Marquez begged Arum for a rematch but Arum said no, waiting for a more profitable time. Even Pacquiao agreed that was the right move, in some ways undercutting the idea for a fourth fight now. “I don’t think the people were going to watch again right away,” the Filipino boxing sensation said last Tuesday about the timing of a rematch after the 2008 fight. “Boxing is a business. You have to make money.”

Mayweather might like his chances more against Pacquiao after seeing the Filipino hero struggle for the first time since he faced Marquez in 2008, but boxing history offers a cautionary tale about such judgments. Evander Holyfield lost to Riddick Bowe in 1995 and struggled to beat Bobby Czyz in May of 1996, helping entice Don King into booking Holyfield as a foe for Mike Tyson. Holyfield stopped Tyson in the 11th round in late 1996 and won a 1997 rematch, the infamous “bite fight,” by disqualification after Tyson bit Holyfield’s ears twice, tearing out a chunk of flesh the first time.

Pac-man: ‘I clearly won’

Looking back at the Marquez fight, which could have really gone either way depending on how you saw it, Pacquiao felt “it was very clear I won the fight.” It was a fight that was too close to call, and the judges gave it to Pacquiao, one of them scoring it a draw (114-114), and the two others calling it for the reigning WBO welterweight champion (115-113 and 116-112).

Marquez felt he was robbed in the same manner he was robbed the first two times they fought in 2004 and 2008. But ring experts close to the ring agreed that Pacquiao was the aggressor and did more to win the fight. “Marquez played it too safe and that was a big, big mistake,” said Emanuel Steward, who worked the HBO panel for the fight witnessed by a crowd of 16,368, and millions more from around the globe.

“I clearly won the fight,” said Pacquiao. The Pacquiao bus left Las Vegas for Los Angeles yesterday afternoon. It was half empty, and minus the Pacquiao couple, the boxer and his wife Jinkee, that normally occupied the front seats. Pacquiao decided to stay behind in Vegas to cool off with his wife, and according to his adviser, Mike Koncz, they’re scheduled to be back in Los Angeles Monday (today in Manila) because there’s a Hennessy photo-shoot lined up for the Filipino champion.

Koncz said he hasn’t spoken to Pacquiao about his immediate plans inside the ring, but said in a week or two there should be something worth telling. It could involve Mayweather or Marquez or anyone else who’s out there and willing to fight.

It is clear that our very own Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won the fight. Congratulations Manny!  Now you know!

Stop doubting him and just be happy for our kababayan. He won fair and square! Stats won't lie!

Round by round analysis of Pacquiao vs. Marquez III fight

Manny Pacquiao beats Juan Manuel Marquez by Majority Decision (114-114, 115-113, 116-112)

Round 1

This fight is underway. It's a raucous atmosphere in Las Vegas with the fans supporting Marquez, and Pacquiao lands an early left hand to Marquez's nose that causes the fans to ooh and ah. A good flurry of punches they both connect with and and then more from Pacquiao. A good first round that goes to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 2

After a fast-paced first round both men are a little slower early in the second, perhaps trying to avoid making the first mistake in the fight. Marquez is trying to go to Pacquiao's body, but Pacquiao doesn't seem to be feeling anything. Pacquiao is moving quickly and punching crisply. Now Marquez lands a body shot and an uppercut. Pacquiao connects with a right hook. It's a close second round that goes to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 3

Marquez lands a short uppercut. Pacquiao's movement seems to be frustrating Marquez, but Pacquiao isn't landing a lot of punches -- he's more active with his footwork than he is with his hands. A hard right hook from Pacquiao connects to Marquez's temple, and I'll give the third round to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 4

Pacquiao lands a good left hook and then backs away and makes Marquez miss. Pacquiao comes in wildly and gets off balance but Marquez can't take advantage. Marquez lands two to the body effectively. Pacquiao lands a left and Marquez lands a right, and it's another close round but this time I give a slight edge to Marquez, 10-9.

Round 5

Marquez is continuing to go to the body, but Pacquiao is mostly blocking those punches. Now Marquez lands a big right to Pacquiao's head, and that one has Pacquiao reeling. Marquez with a good left hand now. Marquez is starting to get through and hurting Pacquiao. By far the best round of the fight for Marquez, 10-9.

Round 6

Pacquiao charges inside, Marquez makes him pay with a right hand counter, but then Pacquiao comes right back with a hard left of his own. A great exchange. Pacquiao lands a right hook and Marquez with a left hook. The best round of the fight so far goes to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 7

Marquez lands a very big right hand that backs Pacquiao up. Now another hard shot from Marquez. Pacquiao appears to have some blood around his mouth. Now Pacquiao knocks Marquez back with a shot to the head. Marquez lands a left and then Pacquiao swings and misses. Good round for Marquez, 10-9.

Round 8

Marquez is countering very effectively and lands a good right cross. A good right hand to the head from Marquez. Pacquiao may be a little frustrated right now because he hasn't been tested the way Marquez is testing him in a long time. Now Pacquiao wades in and lands a left hand, but Marquez hits him right back. Another good round for Marquez, 10-9.

Round 9

Marquez throws a 1-2 that Pacquiao blocks, then Marquez lands one to the back of Pacquiao's head. Marquez lands a couple of good combinations. Now they're back-and-forth brawling with Marquez appearing to get the better of some exchanges, only to have Pacquiao swarm and knock Marquez off balance. Pacquiao explodes in the final seconds of the round and that may have been enough to give the round for Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 10

Both guys came out of their corners looking a little bit worn out after that incredible flurry to end the ninth round. A couple of furious exchanges now which have Pacquiao backing up and gesturing that Marquez hit him with a head butt. Pacquiao has a cut over his right eye that he seems to think came from a head butt, but the referee hasn't ruled on that. Pacquiao appears to be frustrated and Marquez has been the aggressor in this round. Marquez, 10-9.

Round 11

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has confirmed between rounds that Pacquiao's cut came from an accidental clash of heads. Pacquiao lands a big left to Marquez's head. Marquez looked hurt by that one. They exchange hard rights, then Marquez lands a left as well. I think Pacquiao has connected on a few more punches than Marquez has in this crucial round and I give it to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Final Round

Marquez's corner is telling him that he's winning the fight, and Freddie Roach seems to think Marquez is winning, too, because he told Pacquiao he needs to knock Marquez down in this round. I'm not so sure. Good left hand from Pacquiao. Marquez seems to be playing it safe, which is no surprise considering that his corner told him he's winning. Pacquiao's mouthpiece falls out of his mouth which causes a brief respite. Marquez has a big overhand right. Pacquiao goes to the body. Pacquiao with a big left. The fight ends with them toe to toe. I give the 12th to Pacquiao, 10-9.

“We congratulate each of these participants on achieving their provisional New7Wonders of Nature status, and look forward to completing the confirmation process to celebrate each one in their own Official Inauguration ceremony early in 2012,” said Bernard Weber, adding, “When the New7Wonders of Nature are confirmed they will join the man-made New 7 Wonders of the World in becoming part of Global Memory for humankind for ever.”

NEW 7 WONDERS OF NATURE (PROVISIONAL LIST)

The New 7 Wonders of Nature
The Amazon Rainforest, also known as Amazonia, the Amazon jungle or the Amazon Basin, encompasses seven million square kilometers (1.7 billion acres), though the forest itself occupies some 5.5 million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres), located within nine nations. The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests and comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world. The Amazon River is the largest river in the world by volume, with a total flow greater than the top ten rivers worldwide combined. It accounts for approximately one-fifth of the total world river flow and has the biggest drainage basin on the planet. Not a single bridge crosses the Amazon.

Halong Bay is located in Quáng Ninh province, Vietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. The bay has a 120 kilometre long coastline and is approximately 1,553 square kilometres in size with 1969 islets. Several of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves, other support floating villages of fishermen, who ply the shallow waters for 200 species of fish and 450 different kinds of mollusks. Another specific feature of Halong Bay is the abundance of lakes inside the limestone islands, for example, Dau Be island has six enclosed lakes. All these island lakes occupy drowned dolines within fengcong karst.

Iguazu Falls, in Iguazu River, are one of the world's largest waterfalls. They extend over 2,700 m (nearly 2 miles) in a semi-circular shape. Of the 275 falls that collectively make up Iguassu Falls, "Devil's Throat" is the tallest at 80 m in height. Iguazu Falls are on the border between the Brazilian state of Paraná and the Argentine province of Misiones, and are surrounded by two National Parks (BR/ARG). Both are subtropical rainforests that are host to hundreds of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.

Jejudo is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 sqkm. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano.

Indonesia’s Komodo National Park includes the three larger islands Komodo, Rinca and Padar, as well as numerous smaller ones, for a total area of 1,817 square kilometers (603 square kilometers of it land). The national park was founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon. Later, it was also dedicated to protecting other species, including marine animals. The islands of the national park are of volcanic origin.

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. The lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The underground river is reputed to be the world's longest. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right to the water's edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.

Table Mountain is a South African icon and the only natural site on the planet to have a constellation of stars named after it - Mensa, meaning “the table.” The flat-topped mountain has withstood six million years of erosion and hosts the richest, yet smallest floral kingdom on earth with over 1,470 floral species. Table Mountain boasts numerous rare and endangered species. It is the most recognized site in Cape Town, the gateway to Africa, owing to its unique flat-topped peaks which reach 1,086 m above sea level.
