DO-IT-YOURSELF: How to Commute from Tagbilaran to Panglao Bohol

Whenever I travel in the country side, I always travel the local way as much as possible. (Sometimes I get lucky because either a family friend or friend of friends offer their car and tour me around for free.) Since it's my second time in Panglao and since this blog is all about how I travel on a shoestring,  I traveled the local way this time to save money!

From my hotel in Tagbilaran Bohol, I rode a tricycle. I was charged twenty pesos (P 20.00) just to go to the Central Bus Terminal to board a Panglao-bound Bus in Tagbilaran City. That's just because I have a tripod, camera and a bag. To save more, travel light and the trike driver will charge you P7.00 only. If you are coming from the airport I guess the trike driver will charge you P20.00 also in going to this bus terminal.

How to go to Panglao, Bohol the local way:

1. First, tell the trike driver to bring you near the Tagbilaran old Museum. Located at A. Hontanosas corner E. Rocha Street, Tagbilaran, Bohol.

2. At A. Hontanosas corner E. Rocha Street, Tagbilaran, Bohol, look for the Panglao-bound buses.

3. Make sure that the bus has TAWALA DANAO SIGNAGE, 'coz if there's none, then it will not pass by Dumaluan, BBC, Alona Beach. Better ask the driver just to make sure. Better be safe than sorry.

4. Please take note that the fare for locals is only P 25.00/ person.

5. Tell the driver to drop you off at your destination, so you'll not get lost.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

1. Cheap Fare
2. You get to interact with and befriend the locals.

Cons:

1. Only non-aircon buses. During summer, the weather is humid and hot so bring a fan.
2. Expect to wait for a couple of minutes or an hour for the bus to be full . The Bus driver won't leave the terminal unless the bus is full.

I SO LOVE THE CHOCOLATE HILLS IN BOHOL. PHILIPPINES IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL! THAT MAKES ME THANKFUL I WAS BORN AND LIVES HERE!

Beware of Overcharging Trikes in Tagbilaran Bohol. Remember the fare in tricycle is only P7.00

TRIKES AND TAXI/ CAR FOR HIRE ABOUND IN TAGBILARAN AIRPORT. 

DON'T GET DUPED, TRICYCLE FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE SEA PORT IS ONLY P 7.00.

TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT TO ALONA BEACH IN PANGLAO RANGE FROM P200.00 to P 400.00 MORE THAN THAT IS TOO MUCH!

THE ONE IN SKY BLUE SHIRT WAS MY TRIKE DRIVER FROM THE AIRPORT TO CHICKEN ATI ATIHAN IN DOWNTOWN TAGBILARAN HE ONLY ASKED FOR THE REGULAR FARE P 7.00 NO MORE NO LESS!

UNLIKE THE TRIKE DRIVER FROM HELL THAT THE SECURITY GUARD OF ALTURAZ RECOMMENDED TO BRING ME FROM THE GROCERY STORE IN DOWNTOWN TAGBILARAN TO MY HOTEL.

WHEN I SAT DOWN AT THE TRIKE I HAD CRAMPS ON BOTH OF MY LEGS AND AND ON MY STOMACH. 

IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I EXPERIENCED THAT FEELING.

I WAS SO AFRAID SINCE I WAS ALONE .  

SO I ASKED THE TRIKE DRIVER TO PASSED BY MERCURY WHERE I BOUGHT POTASSIUM TABLET AND HYPERTENSION MEDICINE.  

I WAS SO EXHAUSTED WALKING AROUND TAGBILARAN THE WHOLE DAY AND I LACK SLEEP SO MAYBE THAT'S THE REASON WHY I HAD THOSE CRAMPS. 

THE LINE WAS LONG AT MERCURY. SO I HAD TO WAIT FOR MY TURN. I CALLED UP MY BROTHER THROUGH MY CP AND TOLD HIM I THINK I WAS GETTING A HEART ATTACK.  HE SAID I SHOULD SIT AND RELAX AND JUST TAKE THE MEDS RIGHT AWAY.

WHEN I WENT OUT AFTER I PAID FOR MY MEDS THE TRIKE DRIVER SUDDENLY SHOUTED AT ME! 

I WAS STARTLED!

I TOLD HIM IF HE WANTED ME TO ADD PAYMENT, HE DON'T NEED TO DO THAT!

THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY AND THAT HE DOESN'T NEED TO SHOUT AT ME FOR I AM TRYING TO CALM MYSELF SINCE I MIGHT SUFFER FROM A HEART ATTACK.

HE SAID HE DON'T CARE IF I GET A HEART ATTACK AND DIE! I WAS SO SHOCKED! HE SAID: JUST ADD PAYMENT BECAUSE I WAITED FOR YOU!

SINCE I FELT SO WEAK AND I COULD NOT GET MY BAGS ALONE WITHOUT HELP I TOLD HIM TO JUST STOP BECAUSE I WILL JUST ADD MONEY.

HE KEPT ON SHOUTING AT ME AS IF I'VE DONE SOMETHING WRONG. AS I SAT DOWN SILENTLY THE TRIKE DRIVER KEEPS ON RANTING NONE STOP! 

ALL THE MORE THAT I FELT WEAK FROM WHAT HAD JUST OCCURED. 

THEN HE SAID, " IPAPA BARANGGAY KITA, DADALHIN KITA SA BARANGGAY!"

FROM FEELING WEAK, I GOT MAD.

WHAT DOES THIS MORON THINKS?  THAT I  WAS AS STUPID AS HE IS? 

I TOLD HIM GO AHEAD! I AM NOT AFRAID! AFTER ALL MY BROTHER IS A LAWYER BESIDES I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG FOR GOD'S SAKE!

ANONG AKALA NG GUNGGONG NA TRIKE DRIVER NA ITO HULIDAP?

ANO ANG HUHULIHIN NIYA SA AKIN? KUNG MAY KAMAG ANAK MAN SIYANG PRESIDENTE NG PILIPINAS O SINONG PONCIO PILATO HINDI AKO NATATAKOT.

AIR 21 SUCKS BIG TIME!

We had so much fun in BOHOL last December 2009, that I decided to come back to do underwater photography in Balicasag Island, unfortunately, AIR 21 & the seller of the underwater case, did not able to fulfill its promise of a 1 DAY only delivery and sent the package to my tour guide after I left BOHOL, despite the fact that they were well informed, that I left BOHOL already, I was actually on the phone in Manila with one of the staff of AIR 21 when they deliver my package to my tour guide in BOHOL! Imagine how irresponsible they are! How awful of them to ruin my vacation! hu hu! I really cried out of kabwisitan! But here in the Philippines the 1-800 call center agents won't even say sorry they are so bopol! It is as if they were a tape recorded message who keeps on repeating to me that they would deliver it, so sabi ko, kelan at saan eh paalis na ako ng BOHOL ( I called them when I was in the airport and were asking where exactly was my package, a very simple question they could not answer!)
