Calanggaman Island

The beautiful hidden beauty of Calanggaman Island
Woooooaaaahhh! That was my first reaction when I saw the pix taken by Tito Gerry Ruiz in Leyte!
He said that it's the next big tourist destination in Leyte!

He said that we should savor it while the crowds have not discovered it yet and Mother Nature still rules.

He described it as paradise, unspoilt and has crystal clear waters plus white powdery sand. Calanggaman Island is located roughly 15 kms. off the coast of Palompon, Leyte on the western side, between Leyte and Cebu. It's one (1) hour ride by pumpboat from Palompon. The island is being managed by Palompon Local Government Unit (LGU).

They took a big pumpboat which was a good thing as the water started to get rough 10 minutes away from Palompon’s pier. It was an hour trip – a rough ride most of the time, but nothing to be scared of. It was a “normal” thing," as one of the boat’s crew members sheepishly remarked.

The island is still bare although there are now few structures built on it.

Like Calaguas Group of Islands in Camarines Norte, there are no provisions for accommodation/ overnight stay in the island.

Those who would like to stay overnight must bring a tent with them.

There are a couple of picnic kiosks for rent, with tables and chairs.

There is a public restroom.

Be forewarned though that there are no commercial stores or restaurants there.

So one has to bring his or her own food and water.

There is no electricity in the island but we were told that it now has battery-powered lights at night and that solar panels, which could charge the batteries, have just arrived and would soon be installed.

Mobile phone signal from the main providers is good, so one could still get in touch with the rest of the world.

To those who love taking the less beaten path and being away literally far from it all, nothing can be better than Calanggaman Island.

Photos were taken last February 22, 2011.

Thanks to Nhel Nanquil, DOT Region 8 and the Palompon LGU Tourism Staff.

You asked for it! We are extending the heavenly Shui Hilot Triple 90 Min. Combo Massage & Foot Treatment at Shui Hilot Healing Spa deal here on MetroDeal Philippines! This time it's not only valid for the branch in Makati, but also for the soon-to-open Libis branch! Hilot is known as the only ancient Filipino art of healing that effectively relaxes stressed muscles and nerves, which is carried out at the Shui Hilot Healing Spa by a genuine Manghihilot. It is also effective for resetting dislocated or sprained joints such as metacarpal bones, ankles, knees, fingers and, among other chiropractic advantages.
http://tinyurl.com/6kq6vxf
http://tinyurl.com/6kq6vxfAfter your Hilot treatment, the fabulous Ventosa Therapy awaits you. In alternative medicine, pain is believed to be caused by problems relating to your energy flow. By creating a vacuum with heat in a glass or bamboo, sore points on the body are gently eased. This prevents Toxins from building up in the form of nodules or “lamig” and is replaced by a naturopathic organic mineral that enables the cell to regenerate and hydrate inside the body. This is followed by a leisurely deep hilot therapy where naturopathic oil is readily absorbed by the skin.

Complete your physical and spiritual rejuvenation with the “Dagdagay” foot massage. As a healing practice, it traces its origins from the indigenous tribes of the Mountain Province. Dagdagay uses sticks to massage the feet in rolling and scratching motions from the heel to toes to stimulate blood circulation before applying deep strokes or “hagod”. Coupled with soothing douses of virgin coconut oil and an indigenous organic oil extracted from healing herbs, this method relieves feet off aches and muscle tension. It is a unique therapy effectively battling high blood pressure and improving blood circulation, hormonal imbalance and depressive disorder or stress. Be prepared for a wonderful foot treatment pleasure like you never had it before.

Your deliverance from the stresses of contemporary living will arrive via the remedial hands and knowledge of the Shui Hilot Spa team of specialists and fully qualified staff. Led by Dr. Gerry Sy, doctor of Naturopathy and one of the foremost experts on Hilot in the Philippines, they offer a range of holistic and beauty treatments to help take you back to your personal state of nirvana.

Waterparks were created to prepare humans for oceanparks, which will be created when the moon destroys all amusement parks for its own amusement. Splash in the splendor of an existing water world with today's MetroDeal: for P250, you get a one-day admission pass to Splash Island (a P500 value). Splash Island is the only signature waterpark located near Metro Manila, just a few miles south.

The waterpark's family-friendly layout is set up with 17 thrilling attraction, the fantastic wave pool called Agos Grandes, stately palm trees, a water playground, and water. The park's most popular attraction, the Rio Montanosa, is a new breathtaking mountain high river raft ride that delivers its riders the ultimate thrill. Go tubular in the Big Bam Boo, a covered tunnel rid that slides straight into pure excitement. The King Pilipit, a swirling slide that is under rising pressure until a final drop dumps you in a pool, is the perfect place to test if sewing your passport into your appendix keeps it safe.

Splash Island also offers plenty of miniaturized attractions for guppies you might be chaperoning. These include the Balsa River, a lazy ride ideal for the lazy child wanting to practice his or her lazy sprawl, which will be perfected 15 years later somewhere in the abyss of the living-room couch. Outside of the water, oblige friends to taste the park's real sand by making them dig for a few well-placed spikes in the beach volleyball court.

Treat family, friends, spouses, and friends' spouses to a non-shark-related adrenaline rush with today's MetroDeal to Splash Island.
