VIGAN ILOCOS SUR: Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel

VIGAN ILOCOS SUR: Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel

A beautiful illumination of Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel ( MVFG Hotel) facade greeted me when I alighted along Bantay, Ilocos Sur from a (twelve) 12-hour bus ride from Manila.

As I step inside the modern hotel main door I was welcomed with a smile by the hotel guest relations officer (GRO) in the front receptionist desk even though it was just 5 o'clock in the morning. It was nice to be welcomed with so much warmth. No wonder the Ilocanos are famous for being hospitable all over the world. A good first impression indeed!

Just across the hotel reception desk is a comfortable sofa, an unpainted wood carving, plants and a wall made of small square mirrors, tiled out to look like a window to give the optical illusion of what you wish was there, instead of what really is a mirror. It was indeed a very good way to make the area look wider. It has created a larger more open-feeling space, that also gives depth to the space without weighing things down.

Did you know that?

Mirrors are useful when space is short, they can also bring a wow factor to a well-proportioned room, lending a sense of drama while maximizing the feeling of size.
I learned these information from my architect neighbour / friend Joyce.  She further said that a space combined with a soaring ceiling will instantly doubled by adding a wall of framed mirrors and mirrored doors. The end result will be a lovely sense of symmetry, and you can further make it twice as fabulous by adding a showstopper chandelier and everything in that space will be awesome!

Geez, those throw pillows are so dainty! It features a woman in a Filipiniana attire.

To tell you the truth, I was not expecting much about the hotel when I decided to go and visit Vigan the second time around. I thought almost all hotels in Vigan are old or if they look new they were just remodeled from old houses and were then converted into hotels. But my jaw literally dropped when I first saw this European-style hotel in its glorious glory. It was love at first sight. I can still vividly recall how wide-eyed I was when I stepped out of the bus and saw the hotel's beautiful illumination against the dark backdrop of the early morning twilight. That awesome feeling was immediately reinforced when I saw the wooden carvings beautifully hand-carved standing tall at the reception area and were present in every door of the hotel.

Just adjacent the main hotel building is the building that houses the Spa and Jacuzzi room of Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel. Again, the use of mirrors provided a beautiful illumination of its surroundings and bounces the light around and brighten the space. Note: Did you noticed the beautiful cobblestone flooring?  It looks just like the flooring in Calle Crisologo!

This particular photo was taken and owned by Kev Hernandez. Thank you Kev!

As you traverse the hallway going to the hotel's restaurant or to the hotel's vip room located at the second floor,  you'll pass through this wonderful view.

The MVFG Hotel's Fountain

As you climb the stairs,  you can't help but notice the beautiful wood carvings of the hotel's initials conveniently stashed at the vertical metal stair handrails.

Beautifully carved ceiling of the Fiesta Garden Hotel.

Feel that European vibe when you eat breakfast at the hotel's patio.  That "European feel" is the primary reason why many guests preferred to eat and hold their meetings there.

The hand-carved door of the hotel's presidential suite.

Each room is elegantly designed to give a festive vibe for a most relaxing stay.  I can say that I discover comfort in all of the rooms with uniquely accented “carved fiesta theme” doors.

I was bowled over by the festive artwork on each of the wooden door of the 53-Rooms Hotel. I bet you'll also appreciate each of the masterfully carved festive door carvings that they had made all the way from Paete, Laguna. Whoah! What a dedication to Filipino art and culture!

Picture this out on your mind, each room door showcases different Filipino culture and life in general during festivals better known as "fiesta".

The door art depicts Filipino games, dance that can be played with friends, relatives, neighbours such as "Palo Sebo" Akyat Kawayan" (A Philippine game of speed, wit, strategy, coordination, endurance and physical power using kawayan (bamboo pole),  Luksong-tinik, Tinikling dance, "sabong"( cockfight ), "Tuba drinking spree","harana".

It also depicts the deep relationship/ bonding between Filipino family members as they live their day to day family life.  It also features Filipinos love affair with horse carriage.  Family bonding, buying "lobo" ( balloons) for their kids. Filipinos genuinely love fiestas, balloons, grilling lechon, farm life,

The swimming pool of MVFG Hotel.

Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel's Swimming Pool.

My fellow blogger, Vigan's number one travel blogger Edmar and I had a great time when we went night swimming in this beautiful swimming pool. It was very convenient because you could take a shower anytime of the day or night because hot water is readily available in every room.

MVFG Hotel's pathway to the restaurant.

The best place to stay

When in Vigan, Fiesta Garden Hotel is my hotel of choice because it is very accessible to everything. In just 5 minutes you'll be at the bus terminal going to Manila. I rode one of the buses bound for Laoag in Pasay city which passes by the hotel's entrance. I paid Php680 for an ordinary aircon bus. I alighted at the very door of the hotel! Woooottt! Easy peasy!

For me, MVFG hotel is a breath of fresh air from the usual old houses transformed into a hotel in Vigan. It is conveniently located along the national highway in Guimod, Bantay, Metro Vigan, Ilocos Sur. It's around 10 minutes drive away from the various tourist spots in Vigan.

My fellow blogger friends and I had a great time exploring Ilocos with the modern Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel as our home-based for 4 days and 4 nights! We learned from the hotel staff that Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel started as a restaurant and transformed itself into a spa hotel.

Technically, the location of the hotel is already in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, but is part of what is called Metro Vigan. The rooms are huge and allows you to move freely. I love the fact that the air-conditioning unit were individually controlled and not centralized that way we can easily adjust the temperature in our room. It also has a mini refrigerator, Safety deposit box, hot and cold shower, Coffee-making facility, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap,  flat screen TV and cable, plus a wifi internet access among other amenities. There is also a big swimming pool with slides which we tried on our second night at the hotel. The hotel is located just along the highway so it is very accessible. The whole hotel is actually adorned with the colorful wood-carved murals that can be seen on the hotel lobby, restaurant and on each door of the hotel.

Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel is Rated as a 3-star hotel only because it lacks one executive suite thus if the construction is finished they could be rated as a 4-star hotel real  soon.  It features an impressive bathroom with an option of hot or cold rain shower and flexible shower. It has a high tech toilet bowl, it is like staying in a four star hotel in Metro Manila. I'll definitely go back in this hotel with my family next time around.

The hotel is charming, it actually captured my heart. Especially during night time when all of its lights are open.

I also appreciate the fact that they provide newspaper every morning for their hotel guests.

It also provide its guests with coffee, water, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, lotion, slippers and the very important deposit box.

Room Tip: choose rooms near the pool or near the lobby

Located in Vigan, Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel is a perfect starting point from which to explore Ilocos Sur. The hotel offers guests a range of services and amenities designed to provide comfort and convenience such as:
  • Free Wi-Fi in all rooms
  • Cable TV
  • Mini refrigerator
  • 24-hour security
  • daily housekeeping
  • printer
  • 24-hour front desk are on the list of things guests can enjoy. Some of the well-appointed guestrooms feature television LCD/plasma screen, internet access – wireless (complimentary), non smoking rooms, air conditioning, desk. The hotel's peaceful atmosphere extends to its recreational facilities which include dart board, outdoor pool, spa, massage, garden. No matter what your reasons are for visiting Ilocos Sur, Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel will make you feel instantly at home.

Be greeted with a smile and warm hospitality of the North as you celebrate your special occasions, events and gatherings in the FG Pavilion. Take pleasure in the festivity of Ilocano dishes at the Garden Fiesta Restaurant where delectable fiesta-inspired dishes are served.

Giving a new-look to Metro Vigan is the The Lounge ( VIP Room) where guests can relax and enjoy good music, assortment of drinks, house-blended cocktails and pica-pica.

The hotel was founded two (2) years ago by a group of friends. They're actually experts in the field of medicine.  Yes, they're all doctors by profession and businessmen on the side.

Relax, stretch your arms and visit the province of Ilocos Sur and experience for yourself the Fiesta Garden Hotel Resort and Spa where each room is tastefully designed, giving it an attractively festive air for a most comforting stay. Find solace in all of their rooms with distinctively accentuated "carved fiesta themed" doors and equipped with air-conditioning, and an en suite bathroom in each.  Taste the delightful Ilocano dishes at the Garden Fiesta Restaurant where sumptuous fiesta-inspired food is served.  Unwind and swim to your heart's desire in their luxurious pool as you enjoy everything else that the hotel has to offer.

Metro Vigan Fiesta Garden Hotel... a Place Like no Other where relaxation and festivity combine!

Rating: 4 stars

HONG KONG:Lucky Number Eight in IKEA Shatin

HONG KONG: Lucky Number Eight in IKEA Shatin

The above "forced perspective" picture was taken by accident.

I was then about to take the picture of my younger sister and while motioning her to move a little to her left to block the view of the yellow wet floor signage at the back, an idea struck me.

I ignored the yellow wet floor sign and took the shot.

Voila! It is as if the number 8 was on top of her head.

In Chinese tradition, the number eight (8) is one of the numbers believed to be auspicious (吉利) or lucky. In fact, it is treated as the luckiest of of all lucky numbers This is because "bā" (八), the word for "eight" in Mandarin Chinese sounds similar to the Mandarin Chinese word "fā" (发), which means "prosper" or "wealth." In Cantonese, "baat" (eight) sounds similar to "faat" (fortune).

Another reason why the number eight is considered lucky is that the figure "eight" has a perfect symmetrical shape, which is equivalent to perfect balance, one that is considered ideal in Chinese Astrology.

IKEA, the Swedish home furnishings retailer known for its well-designed, inexpensive, and functional furniture for the home, must have these in mind when it placed an ornamental plant shaped into a figure "eight" outside its store in Shatin, Hong Kong.

This particular store of IKEA in Shatin is where we dropped by right after we climbed up to the 10,000 Buddhas Monastery nearby.

IKEA was founded in 1943 by 17 year-old Ingvar Kamprad. As a young entrepreneur in south Sweden, Kamprad soon turned his business into a mail order operation selling a variety of household products, particularly furniture. The first IKEA showroom/store opened in 1953 in Sweden.

The name IKEA comes from the initials of its founder (IK) plus the first letters of Elmtaryd (E), the farm in Southern Sweden where he grew up, and Agunnarvd (A), the nearby village.

The IKEA logo's colors are blue and yellow which are the same colors of the Swedish flag.

Swedish flag.

Before IKEA was known to be seller of home furnishings, it originally sells pens, wallets, picture frames, table runners, watches, jewellery and nylon stockings, meeting needs with products at reduced prices.

Kamprad's innovative strategy was to design functional furniture that was easy and inexpensive to build, receive it disassembled at stores, and display it on the show room floor with detailed explanation tickets, making salesperson assistance unnecessary. Employees were available for questions but the customers could choose, order, pick up, transport, and assemble their own selections. Cost savings earned by IKEA were passed through to customers in lower prices (estimated cost savings are 20-50%, compared with the competition). His stores soon became home furnishing centers, also offering restaurant facilities and play areas for children. The strategy continues to drive IKEA operations.

From the start, Kamprad's desire to integrate social value into business practice has strongly influenced the IKEA vision. In December 1976, Kamprad wrote, "What is good for our customers is also good for us in the long run." This objective of responsibility drives the company vision to create a better everyday life for the majority of people. The vision is realized by offering a wide range of functional and well-designed home furnishing items, at prices so low that the majority of people can afford to buy them.

Ikea will open its Philippine store soon! Abangan!

TAGAYTAY: Puzzle Mansion Bed And Breakfast Staycation

TAGAYTAY: Puzzle Mansion Bed And Breakfast Staycation

My friends and I spent one (1) night and two (2) days stay at the Puzzle Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Tagaytay City.

Upon the invitation of Tita Gina Lacuna, we troop to Tagaytay for a much needed rest and relaxation sojourn.

My Kababayan from Bicol Noks loves to lie on his back even on this hard cement floor. Ha ha ha! Okay, okay, he wanted to pose ala modelo. So. pagbigyan! Ayan, I hope you achieved that model pose you've always wanted. We actually left him behind because he waited for his best friend to come and fetch him.  Ha ha ha!

I think Noks has a valid reason for laying on his back on that hard cement floor. According to studies, sleeping on a hard surface can be very beneficial for your back and spine because the floor does not sink like a mattress.

Missing these guys! I hope to have another out of town vacation with all of them real soon! Oh, we missed you Kuya Ted sa pictures natin! Waaa!

With Blaire Villanueva (leftmost standing actually kicking Noks, lol) , Noks lying down, Anton aka Pusang Kalye and I aka travelonshoestring.

I Love BORACAY

I Love BORACAY

Boracay island is the most visited tourist destination in the Philippines all year round. It has a pristine white sand which is soft to the touch.

Since this is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in Western Visayas region of the Philippines, you need to take a plane from Manila .  You could either opt to land in Kalibo, Aklan and take a shuttle to Caticlan plus a short boat ride or take a smaller plane which will land in Caticlan plus a short boat ride to the island.

If you hate the crowd you could opt to stay in station one (1) where there's less tourist because of the hotel prices in the area. Don't worry,  I know you want everything on a shoestring that's why I'll point you to the place in station one where you don't have to pay an arm and a leg. Ha ha ha!

Just read my blog about that budget inn here

Boracay Island and its beaches have received various awards from different travel publications and agencies.

Enjoy and be safe!

12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub

12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub

If you find yourself in Makati, you can venture at Century mall and try the various offerings of 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub. Located at the 5th floor of Century City Mall. To reach it, you take an elevator to the 4th floor and then enter a separate elevator to arrive at the 5th floor.

The orange chicken at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub is very delicious according to my friend.  You have to take my friend's word for it because I never tried this dish yet.

I was able to try the burger and fries and it is superb. Kudos to the chef for this particular meal!

This is what I ordered, carbonara. And I shared this with Kuya Rey.  I am a bit disappointed. I think there is more room for improvement to this dish.  The chef at 12 Monkey's should improve this particular dish. Make it more creamy and put more cheese please.

My seatmate got this for herself, a seafood spaghetti, She said it is delicious.

At least, you and I now know what to order the next time we find ourselves at 12 Monkeys.

Enjoy!

The waiters shared that the live music performers at 12 Monleys are musical icons in the Philippine music scene like Side A, The Dawn, Razorback, Wolfgang, Parokya ni Edgar etc.

JADINE: New teleserye 'Till I Met you Starts Tonight!

JADINE: New teleserye 'Till I Met you Starts Tonight!

Good news to all kapamilya especially to all JADINE's fans worldwide! James Reid and Nadine Lustre are now back in primetime bida time slot right after "ang Probinsyano" starting tonight with their newest teleserye offering titled "Til I meet You!(TIMY) only at ABS-CBN Channel 2 produced by Dreamscape Entertainment.

At the grand press conference held at Le Reve yesterday afternoon, the real and reel loveteam are praying and hoping that #TIMY will also be as successful as #OTWOL. If you can recall it was only in February this year that OTWOL had wrapped up and the loveteam were immediately given #timy which they shot for three(3) whole weeks in breathtaking Santorini, Athens Greece and Mykonos.

I love the aerial shots done by Director Antoinette Jadaone and second director Andoy Ranay.  Trailer pa lang panalo na!

Direk Antoinette Jadaone the "hugot" director had injected additional humor which we've seen from the trailer of TIMY yesterday. I particularly like the trailer showing the airport scene where Nadine thought that James( Basti) were smiling at her, it turned out that he was after all smiling at "Alejandro or Ali for short" played by theater actor JC Santos, the third wheel "bida" together with Jadine. Oh, you ought to watch the premiere episode tonight and be merry!

Nadine's character in the teleserye is torn between her childhood bestfriend and ka MU (mutual understanding) Ali and newly met tour guide in Greece-Basti. What matters more friendship or love? Ano nga ba?

Zoren Legaspi was so funny when he insisted that Angel Aquino was their third wheel at their Santorini trip because he and real life wife Carmina Villaroel together with Angel were roommates when they roam around in Santorini.

Carmina immediately appeased Angel and told her that she and real life husband Zoren were actually very grateful to Angel for taking care of them when Zoren got sick. Carmina thanked Angel for volunteering in buying medicines for Zoren when he got a stomach flu on their second day in Santorini.

Yeah, they should be grateful!  After all the steps to and from the drugstores were steep and tricky in Santorini especially when you're in high heels. Add to that the language barrier.

Carmina plays the role of Cassandra, a poor woman, the mother of Iris (Nadine) while Pokwang plays the role of a  rich woman, a wife of a general whose son Ali (JC Santos) is Iris bestfriend whom she develop a mutual understanding.

"Mayaman ako dito! Believe it or not", Pokwang quips.

The teleserye's theme song 'Till I Met You was beautifully sang by R&B Princess Kayla.

Don't miss tonight's premiere episode of 'Till I Met You! #TIMY

Sunlife of Canada Quiz Night

Sunlife of Canada Quiz Night

Everybody had a blast at the Sun Life sponsored event at the Fort, BGC. There were 26 groups composed of 6 to 8 members each who participated in the event.

The fastest hands who googled the answer with the fastest connection wins the quiz. Congratulations guys!

I took the wrong route going to BGC that unfortunate day. Instead of taking the LRT/MRT route for easier and faster access to BGC. I took the jeepney going to Dapitan from Taft. In Dapitan, I walked towards Mayon Street, rode a jeep to Welcome Rotonda then cross the highway and rode an FX going to Trinoma then walk towards the MRT on the other side of the road then took the MRT, then upon arrival at Ayala MRT Station, went down the stairs then walked towards the BGC Bus terminal and waited in a crazy long line of people for almost thirty minutes to ride the West bound BGC bus before walking at my final destination at the Fort in BGC. Because of my bad decision, I never made it to the event proper. Good thing, the PR allowed me to join the Sun Life sponsored quiz night later that evening at the tent near the BGC Signage at the Fort.

Wrong Route.

The word is not only applicable on how we move from one place to another. This also applies with our financial dealings.

I know of some guys who took the easy route. Networking. The rich quick scheme. "Kape tayo" statement became synonymous to an hour of horror listening to all their talks convincing you to invest on their networking and what have you. Again, maybe they mean well but then again I am not just interested now. Why? It's because of a former schoolmate who asked me to joined a networking selling all those powdered drinks that they claimed to make you healthy, unfortunately the three heads I bought was all for nothing because she left me to fend on my own. Well, that made me realized that she's there only for the money not to help me make money. So there's a big difference there. So be careful on whom to trust.

Horror of horrors, reconnecting with lost friends and schoolmates, classmates etc. to extract money from them is a bit overboard. But that was what was being taught at their trainings. So, I guess, I'll list that as one of my charitable acts. Very costly, not only with the amount of money I paid but also with the friendship that had gone with my money. Ha ha ha!

Networking in the Philippines is not matured enough unlike those of other countries. It is primarily based on pyramiding that when the cookie crumbles everything else smashes to the ground.

One other way is to bank on your good looks and talent. Enter the entertainment scene as an actor or actress. Or if you have a singing prowess then by all means try to be a singer. Or if you don't have the talent maybe just maybe you could become the next Anne Curtis and enjoy fame and money that comes with it.

Another way is working your way to the top in the corporate scene. The stressfull rat race. A lot of you thinks that working in a multinational corporation would give you all the comforts in life. Well, maybe it holds true to some but not with everyone.

The route I took is entrepreneurship. Lesser number of people my age took the route I choose. Business after all is not for everyone.  Yes, think again and again before you jump into your own business. Business needs 100% of your time and attention. You have to make sacrifices, and it is definitely for everyone.

According to studies. More than 90% of businesses closed down within two (2) years of operation. Another 50% closed down after five (5) years in operation. Not everyone has the patience and the financial savvy to remain on top of his game. Not everyone are taylored to be an entrepreneur.

The ups and downs, twists and turns in this hilly terrain is really very challenging. The turbulence could come up anytime of the day that when you are caught unprepared you'll be swept off your feet. Endangering all your hard work. Yes, even in business you could lose everything. So thread lightly.

Another way I know is combining business or work with investments. That means, you still work or do business while segregating a portion of your income for your investments. In short, you make your money work for you and not the other way around. Re-investing your investments.

As you all know, bank deposits nowadays earns less than 1% annually. And if your account falls below the regulated balance it will be automatically be labeled dormant. Poor you will end up with nothing as in NADA, Zero. Sad, but true.

I don't know who had that crazy idea implemented in the banking industry. It made a lot of people frustrated, angry even. Your hard earned money gone with the wind. I could not blame people who just stock their money at home in their piggy bank. It made them feel more secure and safe than depositing their money in the bank.

Another way is to bet in the lotto. Unfortunately, according to studies, it is more possible for you to be stricken by the thunder twice than to win the lotto. Sigh, it is a very depressing thought. What will the future brings then? No one knows for sure. But you can choose to get ready by making investments as early as today. Make plans. Make a dream board. Take some notes and invest in your own future.

Mutual funds, stocks, UITF, bonds, etc. you name it I tried it. Yes, I've tried all of these instruments. And yet, I am not 100% convinced especially when it comes to the stockmarket. Why? Because in the past, I tried dipping my fingers inside the boiling kettle without proper guidance or knowledge on what I was getting into and I ended up with nothing. All my money went puff. Hays!

That is why I appreciate it when Aya Laraya was tapped by Sun Life of Canada to conduct a series of workshops dubbed as "Aral Muna, Bago invest".

Good thing, Sun Life of Canada is bending backwards in order to give its clients a chance to know its products. I learned recently that Sun Life offers fund management for as low as Php5,000

You must have a specific purpose for your funds. Whether it is for retirement, education, travel, gadgets, etc. Because a purpose well defined is eaily attainable than a man with no particular purpose. A man who could not make up his mind is like a loose cannon, trying to be everything ending up with nothing.

Your Sun Life fund manager will be the one to take care of your funds while you enjoy a good quality of life. Of course, you have to pay certain fees when you withdraw your investments before the holding period ends. Holding period is about a year or two depending on the type of investments you made.

I am so excited. I want to try this Sun Life product. #ExcitedMuch

MATTEO GUIDICELLI: Named Millennial Ambassador of Sun Life Prosperity Card

MATTEO GUIDICELLI: Named Millennial Ambassador of Sun Life Prosperity Card

Matteo Guidicelli Had Found The One!

"I found "the one" already so, definitely that's part of the plan", Matteo Guidicelli's answer resonates in my ears! I am so happy for my idol Sarah Geronimo for finding for herself a keeper! If you find their hiking videos and pictures so romantic, you would be bowled over by Matteo's statement during the press con of Sun Life Prosperity Card where he was named as its millennial ambassador when asked whether a wedding is part of his future plans.

Matteo is now in the stage of investing and re-investing part of his earnings in preparation for his and girlfriend Sarah Geronimo's future whom he said is "the one"!  One of the investments he recently made was an Italian themed restaurant in Cebu being managed now by his sister. Not putting all his eggs in one basket, he also invested some of his earnings in a prosperity fund managed by Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) asset management group on top of his other insurance policy with the company. Attaboy! Matteo you're exactly what Sarah needs in her life! You're the perfect example of a multi-tasking millenial who prioritizes his future over his wants.

"Give the Gift of Prosperity, gift yourself and your loveones with a Sun Life Prosperity Card! For as low as Php5,000 you can now secure your future! Start planning for your future now", Matteo excitedly shares.

Yes, lovely folks! All you need is Php5,000 to start your financial journey. You can then add Php1,000 or more every month or every other month depending on your financial capability. You could even opt not to touch it in the next 20 (twenty) years and be surprised on how much money you'll earn within that period.

In this fast paced life, have you ever pause for a while and discern your priorities in life?

Are you one of those people who bought a Php45,000 phone that was the "in" thing back then? Can you still resell it at the same price now? Those gadgets you bought several years ago are either phased out or now just a paper weight. Please remember that tangible properties such as condo unit, car, clothes, gadgets, accessories, as well as your furnitures and fixtures are all subject to depreciation.

In the past, a lot of people had fallen prey into the habit of buying (on impulse) the most modern gadgets available simply because of commercialism. Commercialism dictates what's in, what's not. They trick your mind into believing that your want is what you really need.

Yes, I could relate with that 100%! I don't know with you but whenever I see the latest phones equipped with the latest leica lens, octa-core, 128GB, Amoled you know those kind of specifications. It is so loaded that I am left in awe on how on earth did they fit in such a small gadget. The specifications you only dream of is now readily available in the market available in cash or installments. With 0% interest to boot. Then you become weak, you give in. ( Ha ha ha! I am so guilty of that plenty of times in the past). Some of them survived life as it is, some had been frugal enough to save and just live within their means. Others ended up with nothing. I don't want to be left with nothing. Who wants to be a pauper? No one.

So now, whenever my mind would tell me, "Cha, you need that gadget and that accessories". I always tell myself, hey, Cha, if you give in to the temptation, you'll end up with a huge hole in your pocket. You don't need it period. Future Cha, future! Then, I turn away.

Yes, guys! Because of what you see on TV and in the movies, your brain mistook it for a "need" rather than "want". So you have to counter all those mind conditioning with your own mind conditioning mantra.

It is so sad to note that almost always a lot of young people today ended up with almost zero (0) savings because they splurged on gadgets, travels and unnecessary things in life which they thought is what they needed to be happy in life. Completely forgetting about their future.

Attention millenials: Don't be like those people, you could learn a lesson or two from their experiences and change your own future now while you still can. After all, you can't live long enough to learn all those life lesson yourself.

Remember time flies so fast! And commercialism greatly influence your habits, wants and life in general so thread lightly and start thinking about your future.

You must remember that the last man or woman standing is the wisest man/woman who manage his/her finances well. Don't fall prey to commercialism. You don't need a lot of phones after all you only have two (2) ears. Watches? Well, unless you're an octopus you should be happy with one or two of them, ha ha ha! Make-up? You only have one (1) face, this goes as well with your clothes, accessories, personal effects such as shoes and bags. Yeah, the "shoes" thingy hurts. You see the Imeldific part of me wanted more shoes than I could possibly wear! Ha ha ha!

Good thing, multi-tasking millenials has now Matteo Guidicelli to look up to! Matteo recently joined the roosters of SunLife ambassadors such as Charo Santos, Piolo Pascual, Inigo Pascual and Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo. Matteo Guidicelli has a Filipino and Italian blood. He is an actor, triathlete and businessman rolled into one. Matteo has well secured his future through the guidance of his dad by being frugal and wise both on his career moves and his money.

Matteo's Dad's advice to him? “To be conservative with your expenses and earnings".

"I thank my dad for constantly giving insights on how to managed my finances and investments. Did you know that in my almost ten (10) years in showbusiness, I don't own a sports car? I only own vans, because I need space for my personal effects which I use for my commercial, TV and movie shoots", Matteo quips.

Imagine that! Matteo Guidicelli a race car driver during his teen years don't own a sports car! He thinks a sports car is not a practical investment. His family must have raised him well. That I think, needed a huge discipline. After all, an actor of his caliber earns a lot and could easily buy a sports car of his choice. If Matteo could resist the temptation, then so are you! Think about your future!

Just put in the money you think you could afford to loss. Don't put everything in, save some for your other needs and if you have an excess then by all means invest it in Sun Life prosperity fund", Sun Life President and CEO Riza Mantaring said during the question and answer forum.

My two (2) unsolicited advice in life and investing: "Just go for the basic and you'll never lose in the game of life" and "Don't try to hold the bull by the horn. Thread lightly!"
